Damn  Tim Knight spoke at our recall Sweeney attempt.  And he headed or was very instrumental in recalling anti-politicians in his home state (Colorado I believe) years ago.

I corresponded a few times with him.  He was very receptive to members thoughts and ideas.

Big loss for the NRA and it's members.

that means a majority in positions want him there.

That means they need to go to, clean house and put memebers in that earn money for work done, instead of living off our dues and donations.

Just read this article that another is gone, that's 4

Julie Golob, a professional sport shooter, wrote in a post published on her website that she will not be completing her full 3-year term and gave notice of her resignation to NRA President Carolyn Meadows, Secretary John Frazer, and the members of the board.

Rumor - NRA no longer has insurance coverage for board members and that’s driving a lot of the  resignations:

...Another issue that surfaced today is that the NRA will no longer have Directors and Officers liability insurance for the Board of Directors. I have heard it from four different sources. As I understand it, the new premium given all the turmoil and the multiple investigations was so high that the decision was to go without insurance. I am going to speculate that you may start to see more resignations from the board due to this. I know if I was the attorney for one of the well-heeled celebrities or well-to-do business people on the board that I'd advise to give it strong consideration as a matter of risk management. ...

THIS is what the MEDIA wants you to believe.

What has the NRA done for us?  Continues to fight the 10 round mag limit ban - it's going up to SCOTUS.  Cheeseman-Jillard vs NJ regarding justifiable need?  That's being backed by the ANJRPC/NRA (as well as CNJFO).  It's putting up the money for us to continue to fight... Without it, it'd come down to confiscate confiscate confiscate.

How can people not see that they are falling for the media trap that has been set. The NRA is the biggest target because they are, by far, the strongest 2A group in the world.  Joining in because of some bad press and decisions does not negate the fact that the NRA has a much larger infrastructure in place to lobby very heavily. None of the other 2A groups can mobilize the numbers or have a fraction of the clout of the NRA. The other groups are great, but they can't do what the NRA can do. Having the NRA act as the large firewall for anti-2A allows for the smaller boutique 2A groups to do what they do best.

If Scott Bach's version of what's going on (in the ammoland link above) is accurate, then a lot of gun owners are falling for another media hoax. I can't imagine that this version is entirely made up.

I don't know who exactly in the media I can trust, but I do know who I don't trust.

If it is a media fabrication, it has been going on for many years.

Although with less specifics, there have been a LOT of rumors flying for quite some time about the bullshit going on at the NRA. The thing is, the structure of the organization is designed to be resistant to outside interference, and the people inside of that control structure had been resistant to the membership that has been upset for the better part of a decade. The thing is as long as it was internal problems, the bulk were of the opinion that living with it and plugging away at getting the votes to make change was the better course. However, we have reached a point where what was rumored to be going on has been proven to have been going on, AND the state of New York has weaponized it against the NRA.

The shit they have done is going to come home to roost. Fighting the rot quietly no longer has any potential upside.

As a rational human, almost everything of use done by the NRA has been a product of ack-mac or the NRA-ILA, and they are the bits being jettisoned to try and protect double dipping board members from NY.

The fact that the state level org in NJ after years of trying to figure out which way is down unsuccessfully, has decided to actually participate in the fight just around the time that local viable competition has come on the scene to compete for donation dollars AND the mothership may be going down in flames?  Shocking I tell you. Total coincidence. They must have been secretly competent and interested in our best interests the whole time.

Yes, the NRA is in peril. Not of being shut down by starving them of money, but by being held accountable for their actions by an aggressive party who wants to use the law against them to the fullest extent. This would not be nearly so hazardous if there weren't so many things that look like they violated those laws.

AT the non-criminal level, the prime failing of the board that created risk was not doing the pain in the ass work of moving the state of incorporation to some place less hostile than new york state. That wasn't criminal, it is just stupid and tone deaf to risk. Not understanding that if you are going ot be a hated entity you have to be dotting all your Is and crossing all your Ts and keeping shit well above board is also a place they fell down.

Because of that we have insane risk. The core scumbags of the board are also disliked.

I've belonged to a number of non-profits over the years. Each one (actually without exception) has been roiled by various rumors - of incompetence, or somebody's greed, sometimes even rumors of the org's imminent doom - invariably, sometimes coming from their own members, and typically ending up to be untrue. I guess water cooler talk doesn't just happen in the office! LOL.

But, in this case, what are the FACTS that we DO know? We know we have a mainstream media that in the last couple of years has gone totally into left field. I certainly believe NOTHING coming from them! So, I would advise everyone to take all these stories implying "the NRA is near-death!" with a big old grain of salt, much like many of you treated the "Russian collusion" story with the same cynicism. With hindsight that turned out to be rather wise, didn't it?

Frankly, I also find it heartening that after an hour on the phone with Wayne Lapierre, Trump seems to have steadied himself and regained "perspective" on the 2A issue. What does THAT tell you? The NRA is still a highly influential 2A organization.

Thanks for pointing that out.  I didn’t know they spoke recently.  I assume it was recently.....

I hope that Wayne thoroughly explained everything DJT needed to hear.  It’s been clear DJT is a little fuzzy on some important details.  Hopefully he understands that compromise with the left buys him nothing and costs him a lot.  That concept has escaped him a handful of times to date.

You mean his talk with wlp 2 days ago that he basically said fuck the nra yesterday when he flip flopped back to pushing background checks?

Super confidence inspiring.

Eegads! So much negativity. Let's not forget that NO ONE, not even God, could completely stop Trump from flip-flopping in front of the cameras. That's just... Trump being Trump! The issue is what he actually does, not says. I suspect Lapierre reminded him about just how many votes he'd lose. Let's see what ultimately happens!

Take a look at today’s New York time.  Big article about Wayne and the NRA. I spent the $3 so I could read it.   Actually I am glad they wrote it.  Summarizes the recent turmoil and Wayne’s continuing strength and his influence on the President.  I viewed the article as net positive.   Of course, a few pages later there is a negative editorial about the President and the NRA.  But at least the most balanced article is front page.

Also wanted to share that I have the utmost respect for Mr. Bach.  Based on his recent letter, I upgraded my life membership to the Patriot Life level.  I of course continue to also contribute to all the other 2A organizations listed in my signature.

Stay united, say strong. The coming year is going to be quite a ride.

More purging

Written by John Boch, executive director of Guns Save Life 8/27/19:

http://www.gunssavelife.com/blog/

Like many Americans and gun owners, I have watched Wayne LaPierre’s destructive antics from afar as he struggles to maintain his iron grip on the National Rifle Association. On Saturday morning, ol’ Wayne’s slash and burn tactics hit home for me.

With a phone call, I learned that the NRA had severed its relationship with the legal dream team representing Guns Save Life and over two million Prairie State gun owners in three critical lawsuits here in the Land of Lincoln. And now we get to pick up the pieces.

I serve as the executive director of Guns Save Life. Gun owners in general in Illinois, and GSL in particular, have enjoyed good support from the National Rifle Association – Institute for Legislative Action in the past.

Without even a hint of exaggeration, I credit the NRA-ILA’s work (via Todd Vandermyde in years past) with saving semi-auto firearms and standard capacity magazines in the Land of Lincoln. And they have done plenty more to minimize the bleeding here.

Not only have we enjoyed the support of NRA-ILA on the legislative side of things, we have enjoyed their support in judicial advocacy as well.

In fact, without the NRA-ILA support, the trio of Guns Save Life lawsuits, including the one we won that blocked the Deerfield gun and magazine ban, likely would not have happened.

But when it comes to these lawsuits, we no longer have the NRA-ILA’s support. On Saturday morning, I got a call from our attorneys. They informed me that Wayne LaPierre had severed the relationship between the NRA and the Cooper & Kirk law firm. It seems NRA EVP and CEO Wayne LaPierre saw Charles Cooper as part of the so-called insurrection attempt against his not-so-benevolent leadership. In Wayne’s world, that meant Cooper had to go.

From The New York Times:

Now Mr. LaPierre is continuing to purge opponents. On Thursday, the N.R.A. dismissed its longtime outside counsel, Charles J. Cooper, the chairman of the Washington law firm Cooper & Kirk, people with knowledge of the decision said. A second outside counsel and a top in-house counsel resigned. The departures come after an internal inquiry showed that the lawyers were involved in an effort to undermine Mr. LaPierre.

Where does that leave our lawsuits, including our win against Deerfield? It leaves them in limbo.

Frankly, LaPierre’s self-centered move terminating the NRA’s relationship with our legal team risks snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It also does the same in pending suits in other states as well.

For our part, at least for the immediate term, Cooper & Kirk has told me not to worry about the bill. In the long term? We’ve already started scrambling to secure funding.

Thanks, Wayne. Don’t look for a Christmas card from Guns Save Life anytime soon, pal.

The NRA call center called me again today for a donation - I told them to dump Wayne - they hung up on me.

Well then..........................

I have to ask, what is the desired outcome of giving a low paid phone marketer some grief over Wayne? Do you think that the message will reach him?  All it probably did was make the telemarketer's day a bit more miserable.

Well, you could also say that if your job is a telemarketer... isn't that already miserable, even before the first call?
