Kibler .54 Colonial Flintlock Rifle

A Jim Kibler .54 kit rifle.  I use aqua fortis acid stain under Tru-Oil, also pulled the breech plug and used Nikal anti-seize grease on it as well as when I installed the Chambers white lightening touch hole liner.   Fast ignition using Swiss 3F down the tube and in the pan.  Tanner .526 or Lee .530 ball wrapped in .015 pillow ticking.  Easy loading, accurate out to 100 yards (so far!).  Fast ignition with the excellent Chambers Colonial lock.  I highly recommend Jim's excellent kits!

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge but this is a kit that you purchased and assembled yourself? The wood is gorgeous!

yes.  this is not an offshore "screwdriver" kit and some knowledge and tooling is a requirement.  that's extra fancy maple and worth the upgrade cost.  this kit was $1350 shipped and Many of hours of labor into the build.  the wood, barrel, lock, furniture are all top shelf.  i purposely did not finish the barrel or lock and left them in-the-white as was mostly done back in the day, to patina on their own.

Very nice. Eventually I need to add a muzzleloader to my collection and one of these kits would be perfect.

i've had *MANY* trad muzzleloaders over the last 6 decades, this is my final and last, the one they'll bury me with (nah, it goes to my grandson ).  as long as you have some experience with these builds and materials, and have some proper tools, take yer time, and have patience, you will be very satisfied with jim's kit guns.  kits allow lots of personalized options for both function and format, and there are more than a few things i did to create a better gun.

Old Bridge R&P has an open shoot every 1st Sunday of each month.  Pistols at 9am & rifles right after.  Come & have some fun.  Non-members pay the $20 non-member rate to join-in on the FUN!  20 shot COF for rifles.  7 at 50 yrds & 13 at 100 yrds.  Aggregate based on best 5 at 50 & best 10 at 100.  Come on out!
