Looks like ATF is serious about how they measure OAL on all firearms with braces.

At least they said the brace is measured when collapsed, and not removed...... might buy you that .1-.2 inches on a 11.5" barrel.

We were having discussions about these measurements here at a private shoot.   Yep, big can of worms and I think ATF will be soon cracking down on all braces.

I thought NJ had a different method from the one stated by the feds, but it was actually an earlier letter from the feds in June.

We get to jump through hoops because the newest ATF opinion letter from different individuals is considered the legal standard. It is bsolutely ridiculous.

It is ridiculous, but for non-nfa firearms, the 26" requirement is a federal standard.
