Downtownv 1,774 Posted October 27, 2019 Let’s stand together for our 2A freedoms. The fight for our 2A rights is just starting! Thomas As you probably know, Governor Murphy recently announced an executive orderthat bans personal self-defense insurance, and effectively attempts to blackmail private businesses including gun stores, firearm manufacturers, financial institutions, and insurance providers into standing down while he and his allies strip away our Second Amendment freedoms. His executive order will inevitably limit our ability to purchase firearms and if unchallenged, could lead to copycat legislation in other states, ultimately limiting freedom for all Americans. We are developing a plan to stop Governor Murphy’s order. Expect an update on that soon. Click here to help fight back and win a rifle! Today I want to get you up to speed on what the New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) is doing across the state, thanks to our members and donors. Despite the threats in Trenton, we are making real progress. Here’s what we accomplished in just the last few months: Forcing Jackson Township and other towns to end unlawful firearm purchase requirements. As you might recall, NJ2AS launched Operation Establish Compliance X (OECX) to hold local governments accountable for imposing unlawful gun laws. So far we won against 28 towns! In May we filed a formal complaint against Jackson Township for their illegal firearm purchase requirement. As a direct result of our work, in less than a month Jackson Township ended the illegal requirement. Interestingly, while the Jackson Township Council was apologetic, Matthew Kunz, the Chief of Police, was not very professional in his response. NJ2AS successfully fought to overturn the longstanding ban on stun guns and tasers. In 2017 NJ2AS sued and won a landmark lawsuit that overturned New Jersey's longstanding ban on stun guns and tasers and successfully fought for and received constitutional purchase and carry. No delays and begging the government for permission to protect yourself! Thanks to our legal victory, tens of thousands of women and domestic-violence victims have become empowered in self defense, and no longer live in fear due to the fact they have the ability to protect themselves! Winning the OPRA lawsuit against the NJ State Police. Over eight years ago NJ2AS was forced to sue the state police under the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) to obtain the State Police Firearm Application Investigation Guide. It took the state eight years, multiple rulings, and $100,000 in legal fees awarded to NJ2AS before we finally won and the state was forced to hand over the guide. This is an important victory for government transparency and will help us hold local governments accountable. Blowing the lid off Governor Murphy’s executive order. NJ2AS was the first outlet to report on the governor’s egregious new executive order, leading to coverage in the New York Times, ABC 7, NJTV, and FIOS. NJ2AS is uniquely effective as an advocate for New Jersey firearm owners because we provide credible reporting. Journalists regularly ask NJ2AS for perspective and background on the Second Amendment and firearm policy. This reputation helps us educate the public, counter gun control myths, and build support for our Second Amendment freedoms. These are just a few of the big victories and activities that NJ2AS has delivered thanks to our members. We are making an impact because of the thousands of men and women statewide who stand up for their rights with us. However, they aren’t enough. In order to beat back Governor Murphy’s executive order and stop other threats, we need many more New Jerseyans to step up. Will you join us and take a bigger stand for your freedoms? Click here to help fight back and win a rifle! Please join NJ2AS or upgrade your membership. When you become a member, you take a stand with patriots who are committed to defending our Second Amendment freedoms from threats in Trenton, Washington, DC, and our local townships. Look out for a separate update soon on our plan to stop Governor Murphy’s executive order and how you can get involved. Until then, thank you for supporting NJ2AS and enabling us to stand up for our Second Amendment freedoms. Respectfully, Alex "Alejandro" Roubian President NJ2AS P.S. Governor Murphy thinks that he can hide the real anti-gun goals of his executive order. That’s not going to happen, and with your help and members like you, we are going to stand up to him just like we stood up to Jackson Chief of Police Matthew Kunz. Old Glock guy 1,127 Posted October 27, 2019 I couldn't get the link to work. I tried making a donation, but it kept tell me I needed to donate more than $1, when the amount I entered was substantially more than that.
