That’s sooo wrong brother! I learned that.

@Displaced Texan chili is badass. I wann cook the recipe in a crockpot

It might be good but it would be better with beans.........and over rice..........yes I have strange eating habits.

But for fcuk sake shoot your crockpot, it's big enough that you might be able to hit it

I have had my chili over Mexican rice...that’s pretty tasty. No beans though....

Zeke couldn’t hit that crockpot with a shotgun at 10 paces...

Lets face it, you try it, it’s bitchen.. I win

Tried it this afternoon.  Prepared the batter explicitly as per the recipe.  Total cooking time was supposed to be 90 minutes or when the center sets.  Three hours later, with the center finally done, the outer portion was over done.  The bread was moist, though, I'll give them that.

There must be a particular model Rival Crockpot they used that cooks more evenly.

Wait... what?

wtf is wrong with sugar?

btw @Scorpio64 got me mini crockpot! Thing is badass. It’s gonna be a nacho dip machine!

Actually, there isn’t anything wrong with sugar in cornbread...

Many people make a sweet cornbread for dessert, and serve it with butter and honey. I like it that way every now and again.

Nah, that's my experience trying anything without a sauce in most crock pots. If you ever get a crock pot without one or more hot spots, it's an aberration and you should hold onto it like the rarity it is.

Between that and the condensation, I wouldn't bother with crock pot corn bread.

Agreed.

best method is a cast iron skillet....nice crust on the outside, and moist on the inside.

@Bighungry618 totally gonna bail on this one.... again

Rude.

I like Jiffy to be honest.  Have said it before and I stick by it.  While I'm more than capable of making my own and sometimes do,  it's really not worth the extra work when jiffy is a fine product (although a bit sweet) that's convenient to use.

Your crockpot crutch is disturbing to me @Zeke

I sometimes make it from scratch, but I also find Jiffy to be as good...and less hassle.

Add some Monterrey Jack cheese (or cheddar, if you please), and some jalapeño, pour the batter in a hot cast Iron skillet, and bake. It’s awesome!

Crock pot, my ass.

    • I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism.    1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that.    2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar.    3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty.   It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters.    4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events.    This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.
    • I saw Lara's interview on Bannon's War Room, and that gave me pause for thought. Her conjecture depends primarily on the veracity of her sources. Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
