Well, I'm on my way out- but until then...

Recommended Posts

Mellow greetings all- Long time lurker and reader out here in Ocean Co. Decided it was finally time to get into the mix and converse a bit, even though I've hopefully got less than a year left here. I spent most of last month touring the free states, so yeah it's time to go.  Until then though, might as well get a little more involved. Can't be sure I can contribute much, but only one way to find out lol

1. Pork roll, unless I'm out of town and ordering it.

2 Do people actually boil ribs? Is that a thing? I mean even if you're desperate, 2 sticks can make a fire to cook properly-  so I'm not sure if that's a trick question.

Sadly, it wasn't a trick question. It's real.

Not a trick. How you answer will be THE critical factor as to your acceptance here.   You could admit you voted for Murphy and still be accepted if you answer correctly.

I'm sorry, but if I said I voted for that poor excuse for an Irishman (didn't), I would not want to be accepted under any circumstances. I mean, I'm a fair handed guy, and maybe still use my left turn signal occasionally, but there are limits.

Pretty sure asking if it was serious implies an answer, but to clarify- Any food made of meat is best cooked over fire or steel grill. In times of desperation or laziness, foreman grill is passable. if nuclear option is called for, blowtorch.

Oh, I gotcha. I'm used to car forum guys using a low post count as a measure of like, value or credibility or something, as if you can't have a whole life before you join a forum lol. Didn't realize post 1 was actually post 0. Crap. I'm going to spend the next hour wondering if I'm even here.

I count 7 posts on this thread. Why does his post count still say "zero"?  Does this thread not count?

In any event, welcome to our clubhouse.  Much to learn from this gang, and at the very least, we have a place to commiserate about how miserable life is in this god forsaken state.

Whatever you do, don’t mention pork roll to Mrs Peel.....

Naaa mention it often, it's fun.

@WhoisDuck  your answers are correct, welcome to the show. What states you looking to move to? The biggest regret I have from moving out of NJ is not doing it sooner!

Well, I was really hoping for AZ. Mrs Duck and I met the best people and the overall attitude about not only 2A things, but all things, was just... realistic and responsible, if that makes sense. Realistically, too many things keep us from going so far just yet, so we're pretty sure NC is it. The upside is that the area of AZ we liked best had plots of land for sale cheap enough to have a small, spartan getaway without going completely broke.

We are on the ‘countdown’ to get out of here too...we’re going back to Texas. 2 years from now.

We already have a house squared away, and we are looking forward to being close to my side of the family, and to my ranch.

As far as I’m concerned, it Can’t happen fast enough.

what kills me is that I'm not completely miserable here. I've got some of the best friends a guy could ask for, I rent a small house from my crazy biker uncle who is the most decent dude alive, my neighborhood is pretty well squared away, and evenn though a hit awhile back landed me in a job that does't pay too well, I'm treated with more respect than any other job, ever. Sucks to leave but with most of the laws here being just as convoluted and pointless as the gun laws, clearly I'm not built for this place.

If you were to make a fire to PROPERLY cook the meat do you find it necessary to use split wood for that fire or are you okay using regular old logs?

    • Did you actually read the entire article? Apparently not. Here are a few other points in the article: ....." Historically, in the United States and around the world, household debt has been at its highest when the unemployment rate has been at its lowest. But that doesn’t mean the credit card debt itself is good news. It’s time for a history, economics, and psychology lesson. The high levels of consumer debt show that there may be trouble ahead. This doesn’t mean that credit card debt isn’t a serious problem for American families: it absolutely is! In 2006 and 2007, like now, the unemployment rate was low and fairly steady, hovering at or below 5%. But consumers weren’t using their paychecks to pay off their debt — and the strength of the economy meant that lenders felt comfortable taking greater risks, That helps to explain why high levels of debt occur at the same time as low unemployment. But these researchers also found that the high levels of debt eventually forced economies to contract, because payments became too hard for borrowers to manage. the higher levels of lending and borrowing make both banks and families feel wealthier than they truly are. “With credit plentiful, borrowers typically spend more than is sustainable, giving them the appearance of being prosperous. In turn, lenders who are enjoying the good times are more complacent than they should be. But debts can’t continue to rise faster than the money and income that is necessary to service them forever,” writes Dalio. When the amount of debt in the economy starts to exceed what families can realistically repay, everybody suffers. Put simply: the high level of debt in the economy doesn’t mean we’ve hit “rock bottom.” It actually means we’re reaching the peak: the high level of debt means that things can only go downhill from here. That’s occasionally true, but when you look across the economy as a whole, we usually see the exact opposite phenomenon: families get into high-interest credit card debt as the economy grows, and then have to struggle to pay it back at the exact same time that the job market is tightening. " So, @JackDaWack, please share with us this economic theory again that "Factually speaking, debt is used as a vector for economic growth for both the public and private sectors..." You also might want to read the COMPLETE article that you post....., for facts....
    • There's been no updates to his condition, after all this time. It's not looking good....  My guess, he has severe head injuries or a major spinal cord injury. If you look at the picture below, the whole top of the driver compartment was crushed. There isn't a lot of headroom in there, and Newman isn't a small guy. Blocking is the SOP on these types of racing. They don't have a choice if they want to win. All the drivers need to step up and force NASCAR to change the rules, this door to door racing tears up way too much equipment and injuries too may drivers.
