PK90 3,570 Posted November 19, 2019 I had a cartridge blow in my 5.7 AR and it left the neck stuck in the chamber. How does one get it out without taking the barrel off?
njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted November 19, 2019 I carry a broken shell extractor in my shooting stool for such an occurrence during a hi power match Similar to this one I don't see a 5.7 listed in the choice of calibers though :-(
Scorpio64 5,147 Posted November 19, 2019 Heat the chamber up on the outside with a torch to expand the barrel. Tap the upper receiver on a workbench or floor and the neck should fall out.
PK90 3,570 Posted November 19, 2019 Success. I found it easier to just take off the barrel and use a tap.
Mr.Stu 1,916 Posted November 19, 2019 Unless it is really really tight, a bronze brush on a cleaning rod inserted from the muzzle will often push it out with no disassembly required. 1

Always a good lunch story from him about things he's seen and reloading topics. https://www.amazon.com/UTG-223-Broken-Shell-Extractor/dp/B002TUSJZ2 Cheap 223 tool. Insert, lock the bolt, pull the bolt back and it yanks the case head out. Not sure about 5.7 though. It MIGHT work since 5.56 is just a hair smaller than 5.7.
