Just another reason I'll be down there by Spring. They are actually HAPPY to make the announcement that getting  your CCW will be EASIER & MORE CONVENIANT at expanded locations. Just walk right in......first come, first serve lol....

Pasco is still red for now, but there is a TON of building along the Suncoast N-S and SR54 E-W. Odessa thru Trinity to NPR going west is a mess on Rt. 54. Pretty soon the whole strip from New Port Richey to Zephyrhills in the southern 3rd of Pasco will be like NJ Rt9/46/30. Apartment dwellers have turned my formerly blood red voting precinct in NW Hillsborough very light pink. It will probably tip in a year or two if all the building they want to do happens. Make sure you VOTE ALL THE TIME. Bring conservative relatives/friends with you!

The AG commissioner--you can see her smarmy face on the new gas pump certification stickers--has stated she wants to get rid of that job and send it over to FDLE and make it harder to get a CWP. BUT, for now the wait times have decreased substantially and counties (not mine or Pinellas AFAIK) can do what Pasco is doing for renewals.

Florida is only a temporary reprieve.  East coast liberal parasites have sucked states and cities dry, and are fleeing the scene of their crimes  in droves.  They are bringing their progressive socialist values with them. It's only a matter of time.  Liberalism is a cancer that, if left alone to spread, will eventually metastasize  to every major metro area in the nation.  They have a plan to overtake strategic cities that are currently conservative majorities to win swing states.  They always move from CA to TX, or NJ to FL, and that's no accident.

Yes, lots of people moving in the directions you indicate--but I hardly think it's orchestrated.

How would 'they' get thousands of people (about 28,000* moved from NJ to FL in 2018) to pack up homes and families and careers and move to the strategic cities you mention?  Secret cash incentives to liberals who promise to move and vote?   Or is it more likely that better weather, lower taxes, and huge honkin' retirement communities are the drivers?

They are acutely aware of the "electoral collage problem" and have a plan to deal with it.  The plan is very similar to the "block busting" they did in the 60's and 70's.

Quote

Democrats can blame the Electoral College for these losses—as they should. But according to the Stanford political scientist Jonathan Rodden’s new book, Why Cities Lose, the problem isn’t just the districting. It’s the density. All over the world, liberal, college-educated voters pack into cities, where they dilute their own voting power through excessive concentration. “Underrepresentation of the urban left in national legislatures and governments has been a basic feature of all industrialized countries that use winner-take-all elections,” he writes.

So just imagine what would happen to the American political picture if more Democrats moved out of their excessively liberal enclaves to redistribute themselves more evenly across the vast expanse of Red America?

Or don’t imagine. Just … wait.

The plan is to encourage liberals that live in politically "safe" areas to move to red states with liberal enclaves, then just out breed American conservatives.

Florida now has over two million CWFL holders. NJ has very few.  Florida is surrounded by pro gun states. Today I'm pocket carrying a Glock 42. The south has a very large gun culture. I visited the Ft Myers gun show last month.  I thought if this ever happen in NJ the media would be camped out with special reports on gun sales.  Will the south change?  People are moving down here that's for sure but also pro 2nd amendment people are as well.  If Florida ever changes there's always Texas or Arizona  to move to.

True, happening in my sleepy little section of FL. The transplants got one of their own in the nearby town board, and his first set of proposals are for parking meters and beach badges.  The concept of free beaches is just too much for the nj transplants to handle, the message boards are hilarious. The existing locals are livid, but their days are numbered. I live on county land, and stick to the county beaches, they are nicer and not affected by this new nonsense as there are too many locals in the rural areas to prevent the wind flipping.

Well, now that I own a home in Florida, the countdown begins.  I will leave this infected blue state soon enough.

I will also help to buttress the Red!  I vote.

congrats.  Where in FL?

We are now in PA, after really considering FL and even having an offer in on a place... but damn, still want a house on the Ditch.  So may get a vacation place there in the future.

We have some awesome members in Florida, they all seem to be enjoying it.  Totally different life.

We bought a house in The Villages.  Here's my rental website: http://www.villages-bestvilla.com/

We rented it Jan/Feb/Mar of 2020 already and that covers most of the Mortgage for the year.    If we pick up another month or two, it becomes income positive.   I did like 10 trips to Florida in 2019 and we're going down in April for 2 weeks after the renters leave to get the landscaping fixed up a bit better.  The Villages are amazing.  So much to do.

We plan on renting it out during high season for a couple years then moving down when finances settle down a bit.  We blew a ton of cash in 2019 buying it and getting it ready.   I could theoretically retire now but it will hurt my long term some.  Who knows, I may get RIF'd and then it doesn't matter.

What does matter is that I have one foot out of NJ.   It feels good.

Been noticing an influx of NY/NJ “tax migrants” down here in South Florida.  Things are definitely trending bluer than it already was here especially post-Parkland but it’s still better than NJ.

I don’t get it.   You vote liberal for higher taxes than you have to leave because of those taxes and infect other states.

South Florida has been Blue for many years... North and Central Florida is solidly Red, outside of Jax.... even that is mixed.

My sister is in Melbourne.  I want to move somewhere down there close to the water or on a lagoon that leads to the ocean.  Can anyone suggest a starting point to look?

Looking for Ocean side only down toward Miami?  If you were looking on the Gulf, I have a suggestion.  You can buy lots on or near feeders into the gulf north of Tampa, Homosassa area.  They aren't developed yet but probably will be within the next 5-10 years.   It's still a very rednecky area, but developing out quickly.

Actually,  I am not looking to go that far down.  Somewhere between the border north and half way down on the east coast.  I see Amelia Island area,  Ferdinanda Beach...these are places I like so far but have never been there.  I need an inlet to the ocean and water access from my back yard would be nice.   What i am looking for is like our Bayhead/Pt pleasant/Manasquan river canal area.  House on a lagoon would be nice.  I suspect i am going to have to get a good realtor...  Thanks for the tip.  I may look on the gulf side too.

Fernandina Beach has several free boat launch areas. Well maintained by the county, plenty of parking, easily handles the larger triple-axel boats.
From there you can go St Mary’s river to the ocean (Navy dredges it for the submarines), or down the Amilia river to the St Johns.
For purchasing a dock, the time to buy was 10 years ago. Lots of development now.  Definitely contact a realtor.  You can also check out the Georgia side of the river, it’s not built up at all, and nothing new going in yet.

I would look around your sister to be honest.  St. lucie, fort pierce, Jupiter or Ponce inlets.  Those would put you near the Gulf Stream for mighty fine fishing.

also, Port Malabar range nearby is pretty good.  Ft pierce and nearby cities can be dumps but you largely avoid the south Florida sprawl

+1 for Jupiter area. I've spent allot of time fishing offshore and diving from the Jupiter inlet to the west palm inlet. If I had to live in flordia I'd pick jupiter. I also have access to a cattle farm to shoot and hunt pigs in Jupiter across A1A from the McDonald's.

I'm down here right now in Cape Coral on the west coast . There are more canals here than in Venice Italy. Waterfront land is very reasonable here.  For the nice Florida winter weather On the west coast I wouldn't want to be north of Venice Florida.   On the East coast I wouldn't go north of St. lucie.  In the canals here we have everything from dolphins to bull sharks, manatees and alligators.  The fishing is very good.  I looked all over Florida at gulf access lots. Cape Coral has the best prices. You can still buy a 80 X 125  waterfront gulf access lot for under 60,000.  some are more depending on how close you want to be out to the open gulf.
