Does background check mean fingerprints are in?

Hi.

For my FID application, I turned in my fingerprint form to the PD on Friday, Sept. 6. They just put it in some sort of "incoming" basket.

Then on Sat. Sept. 7, I got an automated email saying I haven't submitted fingerprints yet, and where are my fingerprints?

But then on Wed. Sept. 11 I got an email saying my background check is completed.

So since I got the email asking where my fingerprint form is after I turned it in, I worry that they misplaced it or something. Or maybe they just hadn't processed it yet?

Is the background check only done after they receive the fingerprints? And so should I assume that since the background check is done the fingerprints have indeed been processed? Or is the background check done separately so that they might still have misplaced the fingerprint form?
