NJ To Become Wasteland: 44% Of Residents Plan To Flee State

Recommended Posts

Well, this isn't going to work out well for the ones that stay here. Think it's expensive NOW???  Just wait...

Thanks to the highest property taxes in the nation and an unsustainable cost of living, 44% of New Jersey residents plan to leave the state in the 'no so distant future,' according to a recent survey from the Garden State Initiative (GSI) and Fairleigh Dickenson University School of Public & Global Affairs.

Unsurprisingly, Property Taxes and the overall Cost of Living were cited as the main drivers. The results also debunk two issues frequently cited in anecdotal accounts of outmigration, weather and public transportation, as they ranked 8th and 10th respectively, out of 11 factors offered.

The desire to leave the Garden State was reflected most strongly among young residents (18-29) with almost 40% anticipating leaving the state within the next five years. At the other end of the spectrum, a third (33%) of those nearing retirement (50-64) plan to leave within the next five years. -Insider NJ

"These results should alarm every elected official and policymaker in New Jersey, said GSI's president, former Chris Christie Chief of Staff Regina Egea. GSI focuses on providing "research-based answers to fiscal and economic issues" facing the state.

The question is very vague.  It simply asks, 'Are you CONSIDERING a move out".

Considering is nothing more than a whimsical thought.  I'm fairly certain almost anyone who lives in NJ has "considered" moving out.  But very few actually put those thoughts into action.

So the likelihood of NJ becoming a "wasteland" in the near future is next to nil.

On this subject of leaving NJ, wife just reminded me 35 yrs ago, day before Thanksgiving our realtor handed us the keys to our new home, the one I'm in now. Yesterday, again the day before, we signed a lease for a house in FL for Jan 1. How cool is that! Will be renting while we look to purchase.

Congratulations to you! That's an exciting development. Don't taunt us too much when you start to buy your new Florida toys. :)

Not really.

I can't wait to move to free America, the thought is not at all "whimsical".  The point here is, 44% of NJ residents have little to no love for this socialist state.  People do not leave states where they are free, prosperous and get to keep more of the money they worked for.

I don't think it's "whimsical", but financial. Many would like to move, but can't afford to move... Wanting to move, but unable, due to job/money is a bit of an issue.

Here's some additional stats from the poll:

That's the truth of the matter. Eventually as things continue to get more expensive here, it becomes more cost effective to leave. We will all reach that tipping point sooner or later.

This! I saved 10k in property tax alone. No state income tax or sales tax either.

Then why when these people leave, they vote in the same types to create the same mess they just left?

I can't speak for others, but I plan on moving to a red state and will continue to vote conservative.

As far as I can guess, liberals are either too stupid, too dependent or too attached to an idealistic belief system of sunshine and lollipops  to change  Thus, they continue to vote the same way in spite of having ruined the place they came from.   Liberals are takers, they tap one place dry and move on to another victim community to sink their parasitic teeth into.

That's exactly what happened here in CHS last 2018 election, a congressional district flipped from red to blue (Joe Cunningham vs Katie Arrington).
