So Much For The Rally, VA Senate Approves Red Flag Law

Recommended Posts

Apparently, the rally Monday had ZERO effect on the politicians..

Richmond- The Virginia Senate approved legislation Wednesday that would allow authorities to take guns away from people deemed dangerous to themselves or others, as the state moves closer to joining a growing number of states enacting so-called “red flag” gun laws.

SB 240 passed on a party line vote, 21-19, on Wednesday.

The move came just two days around 22,000 people crowded Richmond's Capitol Square and surrounding areas to support the 2nd Amendment and protest proposed gun laws, like the 'red flag' law.

The bill is one of several gun-control measures the new Democratic majority at the General Assembly is set to pass this year.

Also on Tuesday, the Democratic-led House killed several pro-gun measures in a subcommittee meeting. Those GOP-backed measures included a bill to allow people to carry concealed handguns without a permit and to repeal a limit on carrying weapons in churches and other places of worship.

The pot continues to heat up in VA

But the frogs know what is happening

I expect bloodshed is coming

Or, will the frogs just wait until November 2021, and vote them out (AFTER all these bills are signed into law)?

And the Beat goes on, without a pause....

RICHMOND, Va. -- The House Public Safety Committee passed multiple firearm bills to tighten gun control laws Friday days after tens of thousands of pro-gun advocates from around the country rallied at the state Capitol.

One of the bills the committee passed in a 13 to 9 vote, would require background checks not just for gun sales, but for private transfers as well (like at gun shows or online), excluding dart guns. Failure to do this could result in a Class 6 felony for the seller and a Class 1 misdemeanor for the buyer.

"It basically just takes the constitution and shreds it," said Van Cleave. "You don't even know why they’re taking them, who complained, how can you confront your accuser -- you can't do any of that. Worse than that -- it doesn’t get any help for the person who's supposed to be dangerous. It merely takes your guns away."

Another bill Van Cleave found most concerning, grants localities authority to adopt or enforce an ordinance, resolution, or motion governing the possession, carrying storage, or transporting of firearms, ammunition, or components.

However, the Mom's Demand Action group dressed in red at the front of the House Committee room, hugged and celebrated after the meeting adjourned.

Ahhhh, Moms that need a Lobotomy celebrating:

They're calling it "Bloomberg's WishList".

On the morning of January 24th, the Virginia House Public Safety Committee quickly passed all of the gun control bills on its docket for that day. These items from Michael Bloomberg’s wishlist will now go to the House floor.

House Bill 2 criminalizes private transfers of firearms without first paying fees, with limited exceptions. Most transfers between friends, neighbors, or fellow hunters are not exempted. These proposals would have no impact on crime and are completely unenforceable.

House Bill 9 victimizes gun owners who suffer loss or theft of their property with a fine if they don’t report a lost or stolen firearm within 24 hours of discovering them missing.

House Bill 421 allows local governments to enact their own gun control ordinances, potentially resulting in a patchwork of laws and the Second Amendment not being protected across the state.

House Bill 1083 severely restricts parental decisions about firearms in the home while attaching excessive penalties for violations.

House Bill 674 allows the seizure of an individual’s firearms on baseless accusations without a hearing or other opportunity for the person to be heard in court. It permits the government to seize firearms based on weak evidence and nebulous standards of evidence.

House Bill 812 arbitrarily rations an individual’s right to lawfully purchase a handgun to once within 30 days.

Hmmmm, just like Trenton

Ruber Stamp it and move on.

However in VA, they signed their death wish, most will be gone next election and those laws will be reversed.

Don't look for the same in this state.

The first part, very possible... the second part, don't bet the farm on it.

How many anti-2A laws were reversed when Trump had a Repub controlled Congress? How about in other states? How about with a Conservative leaning SCOTUS?
