MANAHAWKIN – A driver crashed a car into a guns and ammunition store on Friday, closing a road and causing evacuations, authorities said.

The crash happened at 1:50 a.m. when a vehicle crashed into P&K Firearms and Ammo on East Bay Avenue near Park Avenue, police said.

A 2016 Ford Edge driven by Ramon Davis Jr., 20, of Barnegat was traveling west on Bay Avenue when it left the roadway and struck several trees, police said.

It then crashed into the P&K Firearms and Ammo building, police said. Davis sustained minor injuries and was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment.

The collision compromised a gas line, causing the evacuations of nearby residents. No other people were injured.

East Bay Avenue was closed, and later reopened, between Route 9 and Union during the investigation. NJ Natural gas was able to secure the gas leak and the company was still working to patch the roadway back up on Friday morning.

The area was deemed safe and residents have been returning to their homes.

What's his inventory and prices like?

They had perhaps 10 - 12  or so handguns in the display case and 25 - 30 long guns mounted on the wall behind the cases.  Didn't get a good look at the prices of the long guns.  A lot of AR platform stuff, some bolt rifles, and pump shotguns. For handguns, Springfield XDM, several Glocks, a few Sigs, and some revolvers.  The one that sticks out in my mind was the Springfield XDM at $425. They have a website but their Facebook page appears more current with their inventory.

Doesn't sound deliberate as they hit "several trees" before hitting the store.  If it was an anti 2-A person I would think they would have wanted to do maximum damage to the store by avoiding hitting objects that would slow them down before main target.

As others said, probably inebriated or texting.  Either way, dumb.
