deerpark 83 Posted February 12, 2020 Nearly 200 people have had their guns seized in N.J. under new ‘red flag’ law Quote So far, 186 temporary extreme risk protective orders have been granted as of Jan. 22, according to the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts, meaning an order has been issued more than once a day to take guns taken away — at least temporarily — from a person in New Jersey since the law went into effect. Petitions can be made based off online threats or erratic behavior by a person, among other reasons. Albert Rescinio said the number of individuals who could join the proposed class action lawsuit is “growing.” Does this mean that everyone should start calling in order to join the suit? Comments section is lit.
voyager9 3,434 Posted February 12, 2020 So 186 temp ERPO approves versus 25 denials (88%) of which only 88 became final ERPO (47%). If there wasn’t a better indication that the bar is too low for granting I don’t know what is. nj.com also has an updated article that says currently there have 200 temp approvals with only 100 finals. dajonga 396 Posted February 12, 2020 The article talks about the Ocean County numbers being so high, but officials "do not know why". The first thing that went through my mind was the super high number of retirees that live in Ocean County. Lib grown children from Madison scared by 90-year-old dad with his guns living in Holiday City so they call in a red flag? I will be following this story to see if the officials actually look into this.
Zeke 5,504 Posted February 12, 2020 There has to be libel suit grounds for the non permanents. This is absurd.
raz-0 1,259 Posted February 12, 2020 Well if we ever get another pro 2a ruling out of scotus, these shitty ratios will likely matter a whole lot in determining if it passes a particular level of scrutiny or a provided legal test.

We shall be penitent. But I’m going through a divorce and I’m getting my guns out of the house. It’s not worth the headache $
