NJ History made today (NFA tax stamp approved)

Recommended Posts

If you read through it an "in house" poster comments about becoming a target for the NJSP and ATF. It is my understanding that owning a tax stamped NFA firearm allows them to search your residence without a warrant for an inspection. That may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Edit: I've been searching for the warrantless search that I found mentioned and it might not be accurate. I'm still looking for supporting evidence.

That's what the red flag laws do now anyway?

Do tell.

Explain further.

What are you building?

Oh...Congrats

Not me, just somebody from Reddit that posted this. Figured I would share if anybody else was interested.

This does indeed open many opportunities for further exploration of the laws that were once deemed off limits in NJ.

Thank goodness for this younger generation that questions tyranny.

The Feds will approve an AOW, but the NJSP will not like it and threaten charges. It happened to me many years ago, but things may have changed.

What laws are there preventing this?

https://www.state.nj.us/njsp/info/pdf/firearms/njac-title13-ch54.pdf

AOW from a receiver.  AOW because:

  1. Utilize an ATF Approved Pistol Stabilizing Brace

  2. Have a Vertical Fore Grip

  3. An OAL Under 26 Inches

New Jersey Compliance:

  1. Per the Statues AOWs are Not Illegal in NJ

  2. I am NOT Requesting to Build an AOW from a Rifle, Pistol or Shotgun

  3. Lower Receivers are Deemed Firearms

For those of you too lazy to click through the link in OP:

What you are looking at today is History.

I have been granted approval on my (4) Form 1’s.

Now what sets this apart from the other post in this group by u/Muuurrrrmaidman (who is an innovator and I’d consider him an internet friend as he and I have been communicating privately through my entire process) is these were all done in Stripped Lower Receivers .

This process began the first week of December 2019, and culminated today. There have been 30+ emails back and forth with weapons specialists, examiners, and chiefs.

It is historic because I was informed by the ATF they did not have an Standard Operating Procedure , for AOWs in NJ.

Now they do.

Yours in firearms.

There’s some real Mavericks hanging out in r/njguns.  That’s where AOW’s in NJ were announced originally also.

It's been a long week for me, so I don't really follow this.

I thought short AR's (brace stock, vertical grip, etc, etc) were OK in NJ now.

I don't understand the significance of the effort this guy went through.

With this stamp you could build a sub 26" AOW.

This opens the door to other manufacturers as well. For example an MP5K with a brace and VFG would be possible if sold as an AOW if a MFR wanted to invest the time.

Everything I've found from reputable sources states that an individual does not give up their 4th Amendment rights for owning an NFA item.

NEVER CONSENT TO A SEARCH.

A guy on here got a visit from local police and child services after some leftist loser contacted them after he posted a picture of his son holding a .22lr rifle on Facebook. This was before we had the unconstitutional red flag laws. YMMV

    • In 50 years of living in NJ I've never experienced any attempt to inspect the interior of the home, and only one definite inspection of the exterior for an announced reassessment of all properties and that was a drive by. About 9 years of that was living in an apartment, but still, uncommon. Every place I lived had either a finished attic, basement, or both. But they were also included in the habitable square footage on the taxes when we got there.
    • 27.00 and change in tolls to drive down the shore from Rutherford,  47.00 in tolls to go out to Long island to visit dying relatives. Now I read they are going to raise the fees in the DMV. Murphy lied just to get elected when he said that seniors will get a significant tax break with his StayNJ" program to stop us from leaving.   Keep voting for democrats...this is what you get.  Tax and spend is all they know.  Never cut anything.  This state sucks.
    • I get the added benefit that since I have a TSP rather than a true 401(k) they tax my retirement too. Yaaaay!
