Unfortunately my dog is a socialist...wants free treats without doing anything for them. Lol

That's because your dog is not hungry enough.  I trained my cat to catch mice by not feeding it.  Worked like magic.  It may work on people too.  Yanno, that old saying "You don't work, you don't eat."

Eh, that may be so, but I have a feeling that she's probably earning her keep as the night watch.  That's one thing I have not been able to teach a cat to do...  yet.

Since we put a Blink camera on her, we discovered she patrols the house all day!

I had no idea your doggie was a working hunting dog.  The only thing better than the splash a duck makes is the second splash you hear as your pooch retrieves the kill.

He's capable of a lot more than that.

What kind of person makes fun of a man’s (or woman’s) dog?

Here’s my Caana:

Here Scorpio, my Brothers K9 Maligator “Dax”:

sy8DWpN.jpgHe doesn’t retrieve ducks, but the sounds are equally satisfying.

So then, he is not trained in the manly activity the breed is famous for.  Just, like, I dunno, for show.  Like when a guy gets a high performance car he does not know how to drive.  Yep, that's manly.

For dragging ducks out of the swamp, no. Not a useful goal.

Only if you consider Level 1 Threat Defense Protection training, for show.

Then, throw in 3 different AKC certifications, just for the fun of it.

Currently in Tracking and Trailing training for Search and Rescue.

Currently training for mud dog obstacle course racing.

Also, a trained Therapy Dog.

Plus, trained in hand signals for all cues, commands and daily behaviors.

....and he's only 2, so we have a way to go for more...

Well, he's never cooked anything in a crock pot yet.... :mutley:

He can fetch the bottle, but is having difficulty getting the cap off... he has a tough time grabbing the bottle opener with his paw.. :clapping: What a slacker...

Something very satisfying about watching a dog successfully do what it's been breed to do for hundreds of years

My sheltie/corgie cross is lying on the couch licking his butt, so his breeding is proving to be less satisfying...

On the other hand, last night he surgically extracted from a pile of paper on the mail table a reminder letter that he's due for a rabies shot.  He had almost entirely eaten the letter when we caught him, so maybe he's smarter than we think...

Something even MORE satisfying is seeing a dog master a task and being successful when that's NOT in their breeding. :good:

Sounds like each breeds intelligence of lack thereof is showing.

The mail thing is definitely from the sheltie and the butt licking is the corgis fault.
