Prep For Quarantine / Pandemic

And Bob said no, the people were emptying the display cases faster than they could replenish them.

The hoarders are going to make things much worse if they don't cut it out.

This will start to taper off eventually. All the morons who did no prep whatsoever will eventually build some some stockpile and slow down the panic shopping. At some point all the apartment dwellers are going to reach their storage capacity.

I think I already mentioned that last week they were stealing the cart wipes out of the Newton ShopRite vestibule, so they moved them inside to the customer service desk. Seems like months ago.

Also, Steve Doocy lives in NJ. This morning on F&F he said he went to his local Shoprite Sunday AM at 7:05. The store opened at 7. When he got there every single cart was already in the store. The meat counter was empty. So he asked his employee friend Bob if they were out of meat. And Bob said no, the people were emptying the display cases faster than they could replenish them.

The hoarders are going to make things much worse if they don't cut it out.

I went shopping at 2pm yesterday, place was nearly empty of people. Tons of produce and meat, ON SALE TOO!!!  I dont live in a crowded place for a reason.

No pasta or sauces but... i, gonna make some crock pot stews cook some steaks, make delicous chicken dishes...

ya'll can eat pasta for 2 weeks straight.

Only whole milk left on the shelf.. my jam! besides who the hell wants skim milk during a food ration? priorities people!

I am a little upset because I did need some sauce for lasagna.. maybe it will be in stock this week sometime.

That news report was from late yesterday, to take effect tonight... I hardly doubt someone changed that in the middle of the night without a public update..

"The declaration, attributed to Emergency Management Coordinator Tommy Welsh, orders the closing to the public of all bars, restaurants, theaters, gyms and “non-essential places of business with occupancy greater than 25 persons,” effective 11:59 p.m. Monday"

Probably not yet, take out but restaurants are closed ….I heard this from a supplier and yes they're expecting this.

Let's try and communicate information a little better.

Restaurants are not closed. They are not permitted to allow seating, but are open for take out.  As of now. Bergen County has the same restriction.

"The governors of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, all Democrats, announced they would follow the CDC's guidelines and were critical of the Trump administration's response, saying it has fallen behind in its response to the fast-spreading virus. That means the three states' casinos, gyms, movie theaters, bars and restaurants would close at 8 p.m. Restaurants can only offer takeout services."

I feel like ya need to take your own advice sometimes... read the whole artilce.

Imagine these governors having to do their jobs.... Why do they need Trump to do it for them?

So, which one you going to tonight at 9PM expecting to sit down and be served?

You should try turning your brain cells on and re-read my previous comments.

I guess you could create an argument with anyone cherry picking a statement like that.

OK, here's two articles today. Take them for what they're worth.

Remember the H1N1 Pandemic? I Don't Either.

Snip: "A week after his administration first received word about a deadly flu spreading across Mexico, President Obama convened his cabinet on Friday and instructed every agency to play a role in preparing the United States for a pandemic.

The president’s comments came at the end of a weeklong balancing act in which his public words and actions were carefully measured to summon a sense of urgency without setting off a panic. It was no coincidence, his aides said, that he played golf the day his administration declared a national emergency."

How The Corona Hype Developed

Snip: “So, it’s been remarkable to watch this threat assessment evolve over the last seven to ten days. Very specifically, we had two business leaders visit the Washington Post the week before this, from Silicon Valley and Wall Street. This (pandemic) issue barely came up in those hour-long conversations.

“And by Wednesday we were receiving phone calls from people who were in high levels in both the Bush and Obama administrations, telling us ‘Hey guys, this is getting terrible. This could be, like, a hit of five percent to GDP. You guys need to be writing about this.’

“And so the threat assessment evolved very, very suddenly.”

Bold is mine.

Better get your take out completed by 8PM, otherwise you'll be shot on sight if you're on the roads.

Now the there's a curfew in NJ with bars, restaurants, etc. closed....I'm waiting for them to decide when I can go to the store based on odd or even / '70s Rationing....and the looting.....omo.

It's called Incrementalism... One by one, our liberties and freedoms are being taken away, in the name of "Social Distancing", or "Flattening the Curve". And the "sheep", since they were fed the panic, will just go along with it, because we have 100 cases of Covid in the state of 9,000,000 people...

Sensationalism perhaps.  I don’t think what you’re claiming is practical/feasible even in China or NK.

According to NJ.com the curfew has been requested but is still voluntary:

Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday people should not leave their homes between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. The only exceptions, according to the governor’s recommendation, would be emergency or essential travel.

While not an order under Murphy’s declaration of a state of emergency, the governor said he is “strongly discouraging non-essential travel.” The measure was announced during a joint conference call with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont.

It seems like this should finally be the incentive needed to allow us to have cheaper, self serve gas in NJ.

There's no more useless social interaction than having to go through an intermediary, who is also handling cash and charge cards from hundreds of other people a day, just to put gas in your car.

Yes, much better for 1000 snot covered, ass picked hands to touch the pump.  Nothing could possibly spread as a result of that.

It's feasible.  Just need the National Guard.  Wait for that shoe to drop next...

I should have added the qualifier of “permanent”.  So you’re implying we’re going to have permanent isolation in our homes at gunpoint or at risk of criminal prosecution?  After all, social liberties and freedoms sounds pretty permanent.

Note the post I responded to said ”One by one, our liberties and freedoms are being taken away, in the name of "Social Distancing", or "Flattening the Curve"”

I think we are all getting a bit off track - no one is getting shot onsite - no one is being welded into their homes - etc.

It appears to me that some of the above posts, now are trending towards some kind of minor panic - leave that for the sheep.

No going out after 8pm - I am 53 and I am up at 430 every day - I haven't been *OUT* after 8pm in years....... LMFAO

I am usually in my pre-bed nap phase at 730 after Jeopardy prior to bed....  :)

From your link

"Red Bank officials declared a “local state of emergency” Sunday night in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, ordering bars, restaurants and other large facilities to cease operations at the end of the day Monday."

Sounds like an order to close to me.

AAR for grocery shopping in my local area.

Our local ACME market was...weird.
I expected there to be no TP or PT and I was right.
Bleach and disinfectant surface cleaners were gone. Lots of laundry detergent and fabric softener available. Funny.

There was a decent supply of beef in the meat case. Steaks, and roasts were in decent supply.
Other than frozen chicken wings and turkey breasts, no poultry was available.
Pork was also well picked over. A few racks of fresh ribs and dozens of frozen.

Fresh produce was pretty available. I took a quick glance at the frozen section, and they appear to be fairly well stocked too.

Milk was pretty bleak, but cheese, eggs, yogurt, and sour cream were plentiful.

Canned goods, pasta and jarred pasta sauce was in good supply.

Junk food was bountiful, as was soda. I don’t think there was any bottled water.

The store was crowded, and this particular store rarely is. Although we were very aware of our surroundings and vigilant, we were more in observational mode while we picked up a few things.
People had a strange look overall...not panicked, but worried....

Yet..

I said Incrementalism, they have to do this in small bites, as to not spook the sheep. There will be a national shutdown or quarantine soon... just like in Italy.

Look what's gone on as of today: Cruise ships suspended, major sports suspended, schools closed, government offices closed, restaurants, bars, gyms, closed. All groups/events of 250 people suspended. Nursing homes locked down.

Now, the talk today, groups of 50 people suspended. Dr. Fauchi is calling for a 14 day national quarantine. Trump has hinted to it. Cuomo, DiBlasio and Murphy have all brought it up..

The media started that panic weeks ago. Got toilet paper? This was done to get the sheep to stock up in plans of a curfew or quarantine for an extended period.

There's been 3700 confirmed cases and 69 deaths out of 330,000,000 people in the country. Over-reaction?
