MB24 37 Posted March 19, 2020 Anyone use it. Is it good, add says it uses AT&T or T mobile towers.
45Doll 5,848 Posted March 19, 2020 I don't. But we do use TracFone. We just upgraded two smart phones to be 4G capable and up here in Sussex County they use Verizon's network. If I'm not mistaken TracFone assigns a carrier based on your home location and what's the best coverage in your area. But I'm not sure about details. TracFone has been very cost effective for us. For the last three calendar years we've averaged $30/month for two phones, including the purchase cost of the phones we bought. Of course we don't talk endlessly, send hundreds of text messages or play videos on our phones, etc. But we can do everything necessary and a bit of fun stuff. And we're running Samsung phones from 2018, not the very latest. Compare that to what you find at Consumer Cellular and let us know.
MB24 37 Posted March 19, 2020 The info I got from their ad is $55 month for 2 phones, unlimited text and talking, 10GB of data which is way more than we use. The 2 carrier options are ATT or T mobile. We have Att now.
Sniper 6,372 Posted March 19, 2020 They are definitely competitive on price. I've been thinking on switching, but coverage is the question. I'm on Verizon now, so don't know how the AT&T tower coverage compares.
MB24 37 Posted March 19, 2020 found a site clark.com that showed coverage areas of verizon, att, t mobile and sprint. I already have att so I'm assuming if I switch I should have the same coverage.

Even if it doesn't that price seems very competitive for what you specified. So it will depend on how much you talk, text and download. FYI, on my TracFone right now I have service until March 2021, over 3,000 texts and minutes (each). My wife has similar reserves. So we won't pay anything to TracFone for talk or text until March 2021, except for data that we use which costs $10/GB. It takes me about three months to use a GB, so that's around $3/month for data usage. We're home so much we're mostly using WiFi. In March 2021 we will both have to purchase more service days, but all minutes, text and GB roll over. So we never give up anything we paid for. 365 service days will cost around $125, but that currently includes another 1,500 minutes & texts, and another GB of data. And, when I check out, I can typically buy another 365 service days for $50, which I do. So we never end up buying just minutes or texts, and service days every two years. Hope that helps. MB24 37 Posted March 19, 2020 thats just for the service. you can use your existing phone or buy from them . talking and texting are the same as our current plan, unlimited. data is 10GB which is more than we have now. we only use about 1 GB a month between us. That doesn't include the actual phone, they have deals where you can buy new phones. To switch to their system, you need an unlocked phone, and they will send you a new SIM card for it for their system. Be advised, not all phones are supported. Scorpio64 5,120 Posted March 19, 2020 We have been using Consumer Cellular for 5 years, no complaints. The monthly bill for 3 phones, unlimited talk and text with 20GB data is about $95/mo. We also get a 5% AARP discount. Phones are not included, I think we paid $100/ea for the first smartphones we got. Samsung Galaxy something or other.
