Question about this junk Aimpoint.

Recommended Posts

So I have this Aimpoint PRO red dot - 12841

I'm clicking thru the brightness settings, and the last 2 settings, the brightest ones, cause a red blotch to pop up.

You can see it on the second to last setting but on the last setting it looks like the optic had its period.

So youre looking at a red dot and a finger nail sized red patch.

WTF???

Take it outside on a bright sunny day and look at the dot.

Dude - you have an astigmatism. Google it.

Very real possibility.

Try to take a photo of the blooming dot.

If the photo shows a crisper dot than what you are seeing with your eye, it’s you and not the dot.

If the photo shows a big red bloom as well, it’s a defective optic. Call Aimpoint - their CS is outstanding.

If it is your eye and not the optic, try a reflex sight (reflected laser) like an EO Tech vs the red dot (LED) Aimpoint. Some people have better luck with one over the other.

If it is your eye, I have a AA Battery EOTech if you want to trade.

Another test; observe the bloom.  Now rotate the optic 90 degrees.  If the bloom rotates, it's in the sight.  If the bloom is still in the same place, the fault is in your astigmatic eye.

Also, it's always useful to check that you don't have a fake.

Yeah. I was thinking that as well - But didn’t want it to be construed as some kind of veiled dig....

Folks have gotten touchy around here lately....

I've been swapping out my red dots for Primary Arms   ACSS  fixed power prism scopes.  I have 2- 2.5 x power and 1  3x power.

I bought a used one from a member here and I really like them.

It happens to the best of us. I like options , And fixed power scope's do the trick for me.

Red dots work great out to 50 yds for me. Any thing past 50 I'll use fixed power or  at a 100-200 yds I use  4x12x44 scope.

As long as you use quality ammo you can get some tight groups. jmho

is there a big fake market for the PRO? I know anything could be a counterfeit these days, I figured the PRO was inexpensive enough as it is there wouldn't be much of a fake market. T1, T2 definitely.
