lead for casting bullets

Recommended Posts

So I thinking of adding another hobby to the to many I have already , looking at casting my own 9mm 45 and 357 bullets, for those of you who also do , do you buy your lead or do you try to get it from tire places  I see some people sift the back stops at there local ranges and reclaim the lead anyone do any of these. I have hundreds of pound of wheel weights. Just sort the zinc out and the lead is a very good alloy for casting bullets.  I water quench and get very good hardness for 44 mag and 357.  I also have a lot of fishing weights from a bait shop that went out of business.  I add tin and antimony for hardness.
