Beretta 92X

Recommended Posts

I was at my local gun shop on Monday to check out the Sig P320 X5 Legion and a few other guns they have in stock. The guy behind the counter pointed out the Beretta 92X's that they just received.  They have all of the 92X models.  I have to say that I was really impressed with the 92X.  Everything about it is sleeker than the original 92 series.  I have two 92's and am seriously considering the 92X.  I am wondering if anyone on the forum owns one of these and if so, what do you think of it?

I get the the 92x performance model.. it really was a nice redesign..

I dont understand that 92x standard models... there are so many variations of the 92 im not sure what niche their trying to fill here.

An m9a3 is basically the same thing.. and you get tritium sights with it.

I did a side by side compare with an M9A3.  The 92X was definitely a bit more sleek. I did notice the difference in sights, but I really did not want the FDE color. The shop did not have the performance model in stock, they do look very nice. I am not sure why but I try to stay away from competition guns. The P320 X5 Legion was nice but I am not sure it is right for me.

I have a Langdon M9 and for a (basically) stock gun, it is smooth. The 92 design is pretty excellent.

That being said, I hate the slide mounted decocker (G model). I feel like it is just in the way and makes slide manipulation uncomfortable. That has me seriously considering a 92X Performance model. The frame mounted safety imho perfects the design.

I actually really disliked the 92X Performance model.  The frame mounted safety really gets in the way of the slide release.

The M9A3 does come in Black and other colors too.

The one at the shop was FDE, I think the 92X (G de-cocker) is the one I may end up buying.  My current 92s are an FS Inox and a 92D Centurian.  I shoot the double action model extremely well.  I guess this is because grew up on DA revolvers. I also have a CX-4 and about 35 magazines for the 92 series.  The fact that I have so many mags is making me lean toward the Beretta instead of the P320.

I'm a 92 fan boy, so gonna get nothing but good reviews from me on all their models.

They've just been mismatching slides and frames for a few years now coming up with new models, im trying to justify their existence in some cases. It's like they are taking old stock and making new guns from them... recycling m9a1 frames and tooling, etc.

I mean, all their guns are great. I would say just focus on something different than what you currently own, and pay attention to what small details these newer models offer. I get dizzy now trying to remeber what differentiates all the 92 models cause some are sooo minor, while others like the frames are drastically different.. and i hate rounded trigger gaurds!

I went to the gun store this afternoon intending to pick up the full sized 92X de-cocker model. The guy behind the counter told me it was sold in the morning. I ended up walking out the door with this:

So you allowed yourself to buy a substandard firearm?  I would have ordered the 92X and waited.

It was a moment of weakness.  I can say that the Sig shoots great.  I ordered a Leupold DeltaPoint Pro for it.  It will be my first handgun with an optic.  I didn't order a 92X de-cocker, the shop said more are coming in and will call me when they are in.

Zeke, I was being sarcastic to Ray Ray.  The Sig iP320 X5 Legion s awesome, I put 150 rds through it this weekend in the backyard. It was very accurate. I am not getting another Beretta. My next one will probably be the P320 RXP X-Compact.

    • After what Dicks did,  no longer selling “assault-style” weapons., (you know these items as AR-15s and standard-capacity magazines, respectively), and would no longer sell firearms to anyone under 21 I would not BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM PERIOD. Why support an anti 2nd amendment retailer!
    • Ya read it this morning. Still gonna just delay the failed system more.
    • Hello all, My wife and I celebrated our 21st anniversary along with our three boys.  I grew up in PA (though next year I'll have been in NJ longer than I was in PA) and started shooting targets at a range with an ancient .22 bolt-action rifle as early as the age of 10.  My interest in firearms is primarily shooting at a range, with a strong secondary benefit of home defense.  I really love going hunting.  The experience of being with people, being out in the woods, the social aspect, the hunting part... all the stuff around actually lugging a deer out of the woods after you shoot it.  I just don't get a charge out of coming home with the trophy or the provisions.  To each his own.    I gave all of my rifles and shotguns to a friend when I moved to Jersey (imagine that, no government involved!) but always missed them.  Every time I looked into getting a permit in NJ I was so overwhelmed and annoyed with the process that I gave up.  New babies kept showing up in my house, reasons to not bother, etc.  Then earlier this year it hit me - I don't want my boys growing up infatuated with or afraid of guns, I don't like being without home defense, and I really miss shooting and want to share it with my family.  That and anytime I imagine the world going sideways, I'm left holding a baseball bat.  Once the quarantine hit I had the time and my wife and I both took it to get our FID and a few pistol permits.  She's all set, I'm still probably a week or two off (I screwed up the first application - protip:  triple check your drivers license number when you fill out your app). I would say the East Greenwich Police Department is pretty solid.  Given the delay caused by Identogo being closed for however long they seem to operate in a very orderly and timely manner.  We ended up talking with the police department on a couple of occasions with good success, and the detective I spoke to about my application mishap was cool and spent time talking through my options with me - we have no complaints. I've been lurking here for months now - I don't recall how I found the site - perhaps via /r/NJGuns.  I'm a sponge for data so I've been reading, watching videos, and absorbing everything I can.  I'm also a phpbb forum old-timer - I've been using message boards like this for decade(s) now.  Which means I speak when spoken to and only pop my head up if I can provide value.  And I know where the search button is I created the account because I'm starting to come up against questions I can't find answers to using that handy button and may start posting a few.  I'm pretty set on getting us Glocks, though I don't expect to find them.  We're very practical people by nature and despite many friends recommendations that I can do better for less, etc, etc - I want a straight forward solution for us.  Beyond Marvel vs. DC/Chevy vs. Ford style joking, I have run into few experts I trust suggest that a Glock is a bad decision.  I'm also interested in looking into an AR/Other style rifle, which is where my questions start to creep in.  That and we also need to find a range. Anyway - thanks for hosting the forum and taking time to read!
    • @Zeke, we got another extension.   The text below is copied from nj.com, so folks can avoid giving them the click traffic...but if you want the full story, it was posted there today. "The expirations dates of drivers’ licenses, vehicle registrations, inspection stickers, non-license IDs and temporary tags will now be extended for several more months to give people more time and to reduce lines at agencies. The MVC extended expiration dates in March and again in May due to closures prompted by the coronavirus pandemic. Documents expiring between March 13 and May 31 have been extended to September 30; those expiring between June 1 to August 31 have been extended to December 31. Commercial driver licenses expiration dates were previously extended to September 30."
    • first off , fuck dicks,   Secondly, I though they shut down anything firearms and hunting related in their store? First it was black rifles, then everything
