Economical .223/5.56 recipe? Sources?

Recommended Posts

As the title states. How about a good economical plinking recipe?

about to get started with my reloading stuff I’ve been acquiring. Have brass and primers. Need powder and bullets. Any good sources for that?
I’m just looking to get a few hundred rounds under the belt before I worry about tailoring loads and accuracy. Looking at economics to blow through some rounds with friends and family..

Based on Hodgdon's and Seirra's data, I'd say grab some Hornady 55gr FMJBT's, 24gr H335 w/ 2.25" COAL. It'll work. You aren't flirting with a max load. If you are just plinking and not caring about high level of precision, you won't have to worry about whether or not you are at a node. Hell, both Hodgdon and Sierra say you can start at 23gr in a bolt action if you are truly trying to be economical and use the least powder possible.
