“Son, only a pimp in a Louisiana whore- house carries pearl-handled revolvers." General Patton

Newest purchase, Smith and Wesson Model 10-5 snub nose. Always wanted a model 10 and this one spoke to me on Gunbroker. Something about the old Smiths really excites you when you hold one in your hand. Time to take her shooting.

My dad always told me to "keep my pimp hand strong." I think he was joking but I took it a little too literally. Maybe there will be an N frame 357 magnum with some ivory grips is in my future. Shame it will be faux ivory like these faux pearl. Real ivory is a little expensive and a little illegal in NJ.

The first model 10 I ever shot had stag grips on it and it looked beautiful and felt great. Honestly new grips are due because although these grips look nice they are not the most durable. There is a small chunk of fake pearl wrapped around the grip screw that is preventing me from taking off the grip.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I am gonna have to give these grips a serious consideration. Hopefully one day I have a collection of fine Smith and Wesson handguns like you Pizza Bob.

Thank you.

Ken makes beautiful grips, but he does it as a hobby and does not produce to order. He makes what he wants, when he wants, so you have to be in the right place at the right time. He advertises in the classifieds on the Smith & Wesson forum (the one with the hyphen, not the ampersand) and also on Gun Broker. His "handle" on each is bigmtnman. Very reasonably priced compared to others. And while I'm no fan of the wooden OE Magna grips, Ken's stag grips are comfortable to hold and feel much better.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

    • I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism.    1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that.    2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar.    3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty.   It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters.    4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events.    This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.
    • I saw Lara's interview on Bannon's War Room, and that gave me pause for thought. Her conjecture depends primarily on the veracity of her sources. Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
