Pepper ball guns legality in NJ

Recommended Posts

Hi,

What's the law regarding the purchase, owning and carrying a 'pepper ball gun' such as a SALT gun or a TipX or a Byrna, the manufacturer/seller affirm that they can ship to NJ and are legal but I'd like to confirm that answer.

Thanks

Unless you have no other options I would not rely on a paintball marker, even one that shoots OC, for self or home defense.  They’re not effective or efficient.

Go get the FID and P2P.  Yes it’s a PITA but not impossible (unless you’re prohibited).

Legal as they're shooting paintball size rounds, and aren't more than 3/4 oz of OC.  However - what's your purpose for looking to buy one?

Most pepperballs have between 2-10% OC.  That is certainly less than 3/4oz per ball.  But you'd have to make sure the marker doesn't have too many pepper balls that it puts the total over 3/4oz of OC.
