Yay, I guess, that Norcross's money/influence got overruled, but I don't think she's a friend of the RKBA.

Big change!  She hates Trump and  Amy Kennedy was awarded the 2020 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction from Everytown for Gun Safety.  This distinction is given “for advocating for gun violence prevention and making a commitment to govern with gun safety in mind.”

She is simply a full Socialist Dem running against Jeff Van Drew in November,

From the article, a quote from Gov. Murph:  "Kennedy is “independent,” he said. She “thinks for herself, acts for herself and will represent South Jersey in a way that it’s never been represented before.”

2 paragraphs later in the same article:  " Like Murphy, a wealthy former Goldman Sachs executive, Kennedy had the benefit of personal largesse, to say nothing of the weight of the Kennedy family name. Her husband, former Rhode Island Rep. Patrick Kennedy, is the son of the late Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy.

She is bought and paid for.  NOBODY in NJ politics thinks for themselves.  They are all corrupt.  Anyone would be a blind fool to believe this chick, a Kennedy, is going to come in here and give a flying fuck about about us working class peasants.  Last thing we need is another rich, from-out-of-state socialist to come in here and take our tax money and feed it to the socialist machine.

She's running as a Democrat. Jeff Van Turncoat is running as a Republican.

I've been following her campaign since she started. Gun control is not remotely something she's focused on. Not once has she even advocated gun control this whole time.

For anyone else who was curious, here's more about the criteria for the MDA "Gun Sense Candidate" - from their own website:

At a time when the NRA has scrapped its now-toxic past grades from its website, more and more candidates are actively running on gun safety platforms. Moms Demand Action volunteers have been distributing questionnaires to candidates across the country and educating them on key policies and what it means to be a Gun Sense Candidate. To date, more than 2,600 candidates have sought and received a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction this cycle. Incumbents, challengers or open seat candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, State Senate, State House, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives are eligible.

So far, there are Gun Sense Candidates in 46 states ― red, blue and purple. Criteria on the questionnaires for receiving the distinction includes a candidate’s stance on background checks and disarming domestic abusers. Criteria also includes stances on concealed carry reciprocity for federal candidates and red flag laws for state candidates. Everytown will continue to evaluate questionnaires and award the distinction to additional candidates in the coming weeks.

Now, whether the candidates will feel obligated to uphold these policies once in office is anyone's guess. But, on paper anyway, sounds like they have to align with the philosophies above.

Well I demand someone come up with a group name that doesn't sound as if Forest Gump thought of it. That is all.

But speaking of kennedy, anyone see the theory that John Jr. is very much alive and is the guy posting as Q Anon?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/retropolis/wp/2018/08/05/jfk-jr-didnt-die-he-runs-qanon-and-hes-no-1-trump-fan-omg/1

I just pulled that link from many others because I know how everyone loves links, lol.  But some reports even include an age-enhanced photograph of what he looks like nowadays.  No mention of his wife though.

And here I thought Hillary had her minions do a number on his plane so she could glide into her Senate seat.  Or he just sucked  at flying by instruments in foggy conditions.

Like an old codger, I love to babble on about old stories.

I used to work with a guy back in the day... he was booking hours as a pilot in a single-engine.  He needed more hours in the seat to move up to twin engine..cant recall how many..maybe 1000 hours.  So we piled in a rented 4 seater Cessna for an hour and split the rental fee.  1 hour...70 bucks all in..  But we all chipped in.  Took off from Robbinsville airport and flew up the Hudson River and banked back hard at the GW bridge.  Amazing views at 1000 feet cruising past Manhattan.  (this was before 911, you cant do that these days).  He eventually got enough seat time  to qualify and died in Iraq years later after a shootdown.

Well. life goes on I suppose, but John John had the seat time to know how to fly a small plane.  So the mystery goes on.  No way this guy couldn't read an altimeter, else he would never get a license to fly.

Well, I moved out of that sh*thole 5 years ago, but you could still fly up and down the Hudson then at or below 1100’, so don’t know why you said “you can’t do that these days”.

Also, JFK jr, if I recall, didn’t have his instrument rating yet, he was working on it.

Even for an experienced pilot, flying in haze with no horizon and not using your instruments can be hazardous, especially at night.

I remember years ago, when flying a VFR A-Star across LI Sound from LI to Ct on a very hazy day at 2000’, having to get on my instruments constantly to maintain heading and altitude.

Flying low, close to the water, you would have a visual reference. At 2000’ with that much haze, even during the day, you have no reference outside the windscreen.

Please, stop with the ridiculous conspiracy theories while posting about things you have no clue.

You can still fly the Hudson River Corridor. There has been talk of closing it, but it's too popular.   The nearby East River corridor was heavily restricted for VFR traffic after the Cory Lidle accident, you might be thinking of that.   If the Hudson corridor isn't closed due to a Yankee's game, the UN General Assembly Meeting, or some other TFR, you can still fly it between 1000 and 1300 feet without a clearance, though there are some rules to follow and you self-report your position at 5 specific waypoints.    Above 1300 feet, it's called the Skyline route, and you can fly it by coordinating a clearance with Laguardia and Newark Towers.  Either way, it's a very cool flight, just as when you did it.

The John John accident scenario is one that any pilot can fall victim to; VFR pilots (like he was) are most susceptible, but even IFR pilots can fall into the trap.  There was a study done years ago with VFR rated pilots flying (simulated) into clouds, and on average, they crashed within 178 seconds of losing sight of the ground.  That gave rise to this classic video, sort of the aviation equivalent of the drivers ed 'blood on the highway' scare you straight films.    178 seconds to live

The fundamental problem is that your inner ear isn't good enough at detecting slow changes in your body's orientation, and if it doesn't detect a change, your brain continues to think everything is 'normal', meaning you are still seated in a horizontal position.  As the plane enters a bank, you don't realize it if you can't see the ground and you aren't paying close attention to the instruments.  As the bank steepens, still without your knowledge, you lose altitude, and your instinct is to pull back on the yoke to climb...but as the plane starts to lay over on it's side, up elevator pulls the plane into a tighter bank, causing even quicker elevation loss, in the classic graveyard spiral.

Graveyard spiral recovery is commonly tested on check rides, and occasionally on flight reviews.   Yes, all pilots are exposed to these, and can recover without much drama--but you know it's coming when you are being tested.  The pilot puts on the view limiting hood so he can't see outside the plane, closes his eyes so he can't see the instruments, then the examiner eases the plane into a graveyard spiral, before the pilot is told to open his eyes and recover, still unable to see outside of the plane.   On my check ride, my initial instrument scan showed a 2000 fpm descent at a bank angle approaching 60 degrees.  It didn't feel like it; if I'd been looking out the window at clouds I could have missed it, and it would have been non-recoverable in under a minute.
