First Dan Wesson 1911

Recommended Posts

On Thursday I went to my local gun shop to see what guns have come in.  All of the gun shops are well stocked where I live.  They had a Dan Wesson Heritage. I picked it up and was impressed by the fit and finish. I was not familiar with the Heritage so I Googled it from my phone.  I saw that it was on the lower end of the price scale for Dan Wesson and the price was almost the same as I paid for my Sig Emperor Scorpion 1911. I bought it and took it home and fired four magazines through it.  It is easily the smoothest shooting semi-auto handgun I own.  It is also extremely accurate.

I have three Dan Wesson revolvers and now see myself heading down the Dan Wesson rabbit hole.  If the lower end gun is this nice, then the mod to higher end guns must be incredible.  I am now thinking about getting one in 9mm which is something I never considered before.

Lots of people consider Dan Wesson to be the best value for the money 1911

I have a Valor and I'm one of those people.

Note: Although I just looked at their website. The Valor has some nice improvements since I bought mine. And the price of the stainless has gone up over $300. Still probably a great value.

The Valor had been discontinued and they brought it back — verdict is still out on the new version

older valors get gobbled up on the used market — see something used that interests you, don’t say something, just buy it — if you don’t someone else will

Vbob, Cbob, Specialist, ECO I’ve handled a few

You know I thought it had been discontinued. That's why I went to the website. But I never saw anything about a revival so I thought I was wrong.

Follow-up.  I have shot this pistol about 5 times a week in the back yard and have to say that it is by far the most accurate semi-auto handgun that I own.  I have been looking all over for a 9mm Dan Wesson 1911 and can't find one anywhere.

I have one hidden in my safe, they are nice guns to shoot!

I don't own any safe queens. I try to take care of them, but they get shot.

I have far too many to choose from. I try to cycle through them, but there are a few that don't get much use, especially my handguns that had 15 round mags. I did not want to ruin the mags so they went out of state for safe keeping for now. Doubt we will ever get that law reversed, but if we do, then I can get my mags back and use those guns again.
