DubbleRNR 1 Posted August 11, 2020 In NJ, when purchasing a firearm that is classified as “other” do you need a handgun permit or will a firearms ID suffice? Thanks
Mr.Stu 1,884 Posted August 11, 2020 You need a pistol permit for a pistol. Any firearm that is not a pistol can be bought with your FPIC. I am assuming you are talking about the non-NFA other firearms. If you are buying just an AR lower receiver that you intend to build into a pistol there is some debate about whether you need a pistol permit at that point. It is pretty moot as it is incredibly hard to build an NJ legal AR pistol.
DubbleRNR 1 Posted August 11, 2020 My question pertains to a non-NFA other firearm like the Troy. Thanks. 4 minutes ago, Mr.Stu said: You need a pistol permit for a pistol.
