Gabesdad 24 Posted September 28, 2020 6 years ago I stopped going to my shrink. I was on Cymbalta and it was a wonder drug for me. Now I feel as if I need to go back. But I also do not want my guns taken away. Anyone know the law in NJ regarding this? For the record, it was used for severe anxiety and bipolar depression, which never got in the way of me being a productive member of society. Thanks. Say nothing about the guns you own and DO NOT apply for any new ones. Best advise I can give!

JohnnyB 4,289 Posted September 28, 2020 Any possibility that your existing guns would be taken away are nil unless you tell your doctor you have guns now. Going forward, at least for a long while, if you apply for any gun you will have to choose to either lie on the form or be honest and have to get a letter from a doctor saying it's OK for you to to own guns. You have taken the drug and know how you react to it.....You must make the decision that you can safely be in possession of guns. For Gabe's sake for one! I know there are horror stories of people being on antidepressants who have gone off the wall. When I was on Cymbalta, it made me super chill. Nothing pissed me off. oldguysrule649 397 Posted September 29, 2020 I completely concur with Johnny’s advice. One more thing, be mindful that moving within NJ would trigger the need for a change of address on your FID card. So avoid moving, so you don’t have to deal with the (re)application process. Better yet, move out of state. 1
Shocker 150 Posted September 29, 2020 I don’t know anything about this guy or his practice but he’s on the Gun for Hire podcast from time to time: https://gpirelli.com If you’re anywhere near Verona perhaps it would be worth a phone call at least.
