Please try and bring everything you can in terms of a gun, ammo, and clays.

A rough check list of what to bring:
- Gun(s)
- Ammo (birdshot #7.5, 8)
- Clays (Walmart's in Clinton, Flemington, and Phillipsburg generally stock them)
- Thrower if you have one
- Eyes and Ear Protection
- Shell pouch
- Beverages/snacks
- Weather-appropriate clothing and Sunblock
- Chair

If you can't bring some things, we will have plenty of stuff there. If you've never shot a shotgun before, I and others will try working with you to be able to dust a clay by the end of the day!

Gun rules to remember:

Always treat a gun as if it was loaded
Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot
Never point the muzzle at anything you're not willing to destroy
Always be aware of your target/line of fire
For this range, keep all guns unloaded until you're on the firing line

Be smart, be safe, and we will have a fun-filled day!

Not to derail but anyone hear from zeke lately?

@Zeke is alive and well.  Reports of him being handcuffed, blindfolded and gagged, having candle wax dripped on him are false.  It's probably honey.

Where are you guy's finding clays?

Middlebrook Firearms usually has them but sold out.  The Clinton Wal-Mart says they are sold out on the website.

Probably try Heritage Guild in Branchburg tomorrow.

I think I have a box in the basement but probably have 2-3 people joining me so wanted to pick another box or two up.

It's probably a hike for you, but Gene Solomon always has clays, and the best price anywhere on 135ct White Flyer AA.    The other problem, his hours.  Wed & Fri 6:30-9ish  Sun 1-4.  If you do a lot of trap shooting or reloading, he is "the guy".  People from all over the tri-state area go to his shop, it's that good.   If you go, bring cash.

I know for sure Heritage Guild Easton has them - $18/135 case.  Pricey but they're in stock.

It will be COLD Sunday AM - I will have my propane heater but dress appropriately.  That heater doesn't work if it's windy!

Also - don't forget to set your clocks back!  DST ends this weekend!

What's Gene Solomon's place called and located?

Solomon's Shooter Supply in Farmingdale, only a few minutes off 195 and less than ten from 18.   If you want to see his website, google Howell Trap Club.  It will have address and hours.  It's a pretty lame site, one of those free hosts, but it has all the essential info.

Thanks everyone for coming out today.  The weather held off for the most part!

I had the video camera going - I may have to put it on top of the car next time for a better view!

If anyone doesn't want to be in the video, let me know - I left it as unlisted but you all can view it.  I will remove and edit if necessary.

It's just mostly clipped shooting footage.  Didn't feel like getting fancy.

    • I very seriously doubt this has anything to do with terrorism.    1) Harbor pilots are VERY seriously vetted, and highly trained. Not to mention extremely well paid. My experience knowing a few of them, and knowing how they are recruited and screened tells me that there is a slim to highly unlikely chance that a harbor pilot would have participated in anything like that.    2) Maintenance of foreign flag ships is well known to be dubious. Especially these days. These were NOT US flag, Jones act sailors. It was (to my understanding) a largely Indian crew on that ship, with a Ukrainian Captain. Indian crews are not exactly known for being stellar.    3) The bunkers (fuel) these ships use is ‘Bunker C’, which is a heavy, dirty fuel oil that can, and usually is, pretty contaminated. This stuff ain’t your car grade gasoline or diesel fuel. It’s nasty.   It requires nearly constant filter changes and maintenance to the engine/generators. The ship took on fuel prior to departing port, which would stir up all kinds of shit in the fuel tanks, which would contribute to particulates in the fuel lines/filters.    4) I’d say the posting of the chief engineer for Maserek above was pretty spot on as far as chain of events.    This was a shitty accident, with horrible timing and outcome. Not a terror attack.
    • I saw Lara's interview on Bannon's War Room, and that gave me pause for thought. Her conjecture depends primarily on the veracity of her sources. Regardless, if it's not applicable in any way to this ship disaster, the methods described seem valid to me. And worthy of consideration for the future. As I said before, IMO something is coming.
