N.J. is set to release thousands of inmates from prison early across the state throughout the day

Recommended Posts

This is going to work out well in the state, release them when there's a pandemic going on with a current high unemployment rate. What could go wrong????

...."Early Wednesday morning, hours after the nation’s last polling places have closed, New Jersey is expected to begin letting out thousands of prisoners who are nearing the end of their sentences in the largest single-day release of inmates in recent state history.

Officials are releasing about 2,261 adults, according to a corrections spokeswoman, more than the governor’s office previously estimated and fifty juveniles.

Prisoners without rides will be bused to Newark Penn, Trenton Transit, Pennsauken Transit and other transportation hubs around the state, according to sources briefed by Murphy’s administration.

And then what? Sounds like a great plan.

Prisoners? Illegal immigrants? Our Governor weeps copious tears for their plight... and bends over backwards to help them...

but hard-working, law-abiding taxpayers, small business owners, elderly nursing home patients, etc.? Well, none of them merit any of his concern apparently!

Wow, this dolt has some really screwy values.

Seeing how well Booker did on Tuesday, it looks like most of the state shares in those values.

Yeah... the state with the #2 corona virus death rate early on in 2020 that points its shame finger at 41 other states and territories for having high corona virus test rates, releases prisoners early, while law abiding business owners can only wait for the flu/corona virus season shutdown...

11 months and counting.

18 months here, plus however long it takes to get the house ready to sell and find our new Shangri-La out west.

We are already getting house ready to put on the market. Cleaning out things we don’t need, or aren’t gonna take with us.

Well, this was a positive development to this story. I thought Murphy said they were low level inmates?

...."Ninety-five New Jersey prisoners released ahead of schedule Wednesday were picked up by federal immigration officers, the state corrections department said Thursday.

More than 2,200 were released early statewide, the result of a first-in-the-nation law reducing sentences because of the threat of COVID-19 behind bars.

Corrections officers can hand someone over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement if the person has been convicted or charged with a serious crime or has a pending deportation order from a court, according to rules from the state attorney general’s office.

Almost another 100 of the early releases had other orders from courts to keep them detained, and they were turned over to different law enforcement agencies, according to the department. State Superior Courts ordered 56 to remain incarcerated, 4 had detainers from municipal courts and 38 had orders from out of state.

THAT is what made me happiest about it.

Yes, I figure it must have raised governor gopher's blood pressure about 25 points.
