CZ Scorpion EVO 3......NJ legal?

i wanna add a pinned rear stock & a fake suppressor (16.1" barrel length) to make it a rifle.   any thoughts?

That is actually pretty cool.....

 

Can you take a pistol and make it a rifle? I know it gets weird when you change one to the other or vice-versa - or it least it used to.

 

Hopefully PK90 or Griz will chime in here in a minute. They are more up in that stuff than me.

 

Don't forget, mags may be an issue as well. I only heard mention of 20 and 30 rounders.

Still classified as a pistol though, no?

You can convert a pistol like that into a rifle but I don't think you would be able to ever change it back to a pistol. All work would have to be done before you take delivery.

 

It may look cool in the configuration you want. However, you will spend well over $1000 to build a rifle with the capabilities of a $300 Hi Point 995. How much is cool worth to you?

IMHO, AFAIK, and IIRC, to comply with the NJ "substantially identical" law, it is possible to convert a pistol into a rifle, but it would have to be done by an FFL07, as it would be manufacturing. The dealer's info would need to be stamped on it.
