How often do you clean your handgun?

Right now I clean about every 200 rd. Mainly bc I love field strippng and getting a feel forthe gun, bc it is my first handgun. Is there such a thing as over cleaning? and gf course how often do you clean

I generally clean after every range trip, unless I shoot less than 100rds and I am shooting again within 3 days.

the rimfire 22lr, after every time no matter how many rounds as it is high maintenance but a cheap date. =P

 

centerfires... I usually clean every time only because I am cleaning the 22 anyway.

I'd like to say I have a real regimen, but the fact is that I clean my H&Ks about every 200 rounds because they are easier to take apart and clean. The 1911s and AR tend to get a little dirtier because they are more of a pain.

There we go. =) As long as you are putting them through the paces. Typically most people I shoot with, just take out one or two guns... and 200 rounds... just seems like a waste of time... need to put at least 500 rounds between a few guns... hence why the 22 sees quite alot of range duty.

Sounds like I'm in the minority here, but I clean my pistols after about the

3rd trip to the range. That would be around 500 rounds per gun. I always wipe them

down after every trip though.

Rifles after every trip to keep the bore clean.

Thats funny, i do that from time to time.. once you become king it is very easy.. :mrgreen:
