Am I correct that all qualifying ranges require 80% to pass?   So I have to fire 50 rounds and hit 40?  Or are there any ranges w/ easier requirements?  I plan on qualifying with a Taurus .38 revolver and a tiny smith & wessson .380 handgun w/ a 6-round clip.  When I go to the range, at about 30 yards, I can hit targets about 50% of the time w/ the .38 revolver.  But only about 10% of the time w/ the tiny .380.  There's no way I can hit 80% with either gun.  Here's my questions:  #1 - Is it possible the range will give me a certificate even if I don't hit 40 of 50 rounds?  And #2 - Should I just try qualifying with the .38 revolver since the permits hopefully won't list what weapons I'm licensed to carry?  Thanks

Dont know where you are . Take a trip to shooters NJ and try to quality
You want Paul Whittaker. his qual is exactly what you're looking for 10@5 10@ 7.5 10@ 10 need 24/30 hits

For anyone else saying "thats not a good idea" Sorry no other state that I got a CCW from requires this qualifying crap.

*He might have changed his course since when I took it but when i took it it was exactly those requirements

Yes I know I seen those posters all over the PD. They are kind of funny. I can take a picture of one if you want to see.
Also in the moment my shirt lift up. LMAO, what? I thought this was a traffic stop not a holly wood porno shot try out. Why the hell is my shirt randomly lifting up?

Let me ask you this in a clear and plain way.  Do you view cooperating with police during a traffic stop as licking boot?  A simple yes or no will do, but feel free to explain.

Police stop = Gov tax collector trying to steal from you so since you're so inclined to help. Why not just have the cop follow you to bank
withdraw your limit and hand it to them. LOL. some of you people are a bunch of ....

The law says I dont have to answer any of their questions and I can do one of two things. 1) show my ID and that generally ends most stops as if I were a cop. 2) Hide the ID and screw with the just because I can.

Hell after work I race the cops going to the highway.  My agency knows my car and I have yet to be stopped flying past them @ over 85.

There are 2 problems with your approach.

    1) By refusing to answer a direct question, you are automatically escalating the situation. Your car may match the description of one that was just involved in an armed robbery. You are now a suspect and things could go very wrong quickly!

    2) You just blew any chance of getting away with a warning. The officer will enjoy issuing you all the citations be can think of!

Ah, a boot licker I see. So by invoking my rights im escalating the issue. Too bad they are my rights.

I also said my connections. I could flip the script and show my police agency non police employee ID and as that has before it would squash a majority of possible traffic tickets. Yea its strange and ironic that someone that hates the cops as much as I do but works for them. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?

those of you saying that you're not gonna offer up if or not you're carrying......if they make it a requirement, and you don't........what then? 'specially knowing that they'll probably have it linked to our dl in some way? so they'll know. yet we have to tell them or we become a felon......

Meh who cares? Concealed carry means concealed carry. I will not tell them. I'm not having my property "removed" for "their safety" nor am i stepping out of my car "for their safety" . Everything is about "their " safety and they are the biggest bunch of pussies in the world, everything scares them...from dogs to to window tint to the wrong color skin.  Enough is enough.  If I get stopped

"Do you have any weapons on you"  My answer would be "I dont answer police questions without my lawyer
and i'm invoking the 5th from this point on" (This is where I wouldn't show my connection obviously) .

For just a traffic stop any "reasonable" person would not have a reason to search just because I don't want to answer questions and with nothing more to go on should they search anyway and find it just
about any D- or better lawyer will have that thrown out for illegal search.  They cant hit me for "lying"
about the weapon as I refused to answer it. I cannot be compelled to testify against myself.

I was out of state awhile back concealed carrying. Needed to get to an area that only a cop could
access so a LT gave me a ride to that spot and as i sat in the front seat I never said "hmm, now
would be a good time to tell this LT I have a .45 on my hip) The state had no duty to inform and
again concealed carry means just that.

I said it before the idiot law and i'll saw it after. If i am stopped I will not answer that question.

Hey fellas. Just came back from a vacation out of country and I come back to this BS new law… i was hoping y’all could hell me with a couple questions:

    1. Since i have not submitted an application before they signed the new law, do i now need a new application form? I have all the requirements ready, the old form where 3 references are needed, i just need to get it notarized.

    2. Do i go to fingerprinting before the PD or PD first?

    3. Where do you guys recommend i get liability insurance?

thanks for your help… if this belongs somewhere else, pls direct me as there’s so much information out there it’s confusing…

You kind of screwed up for waiting that long.

Since the police are now handling it they dont have the printers or anything so its an indefinite wait as im sure that will be the police top priority is getting those printers, lol. Oh well things could be worse you could be in Ocean county and still waiting for the court to rubber stamp the damn permit.

NJ this is what happens when you vote blue but people never learn or change. Whats the difference between Ignorant and stupid? Ignorant you don't know but can learn. Stupid is you dont know and wont or cant learn. Therefore its safe to say 99.9% of NJ voters fall into the stupid category.

Oh i had a good feeling about it .
What is with this state and bringing in all the losers who run for gov? I mean retarded gophers who isn't qualified
to operate a toaster to lardass whales who should have been taxed just due to the massive amount of resources he consumes daily.
Once this jackass leaves one can only wonder what new jackass will place him and the retarded voters of NJ that will vote for said retard.

  9. So i heard something regarding ocean county and why they are so slow compared to everyone else

I heard it goes from the Police to the court (where they are fast as lightening to cash that money order) then from the court to the prosecutor and then from the prosecutor back to the court to be signed by the judge.

Its bad enough the honorless judge is involved in this besides wasting tax payers money and stone walling the permit process what other reason would the prosecutor be needed in all this? All the background checks were already completed at the PD level.

Is this even true? Part me me says NJ couldn't be this stupid or bad but then its NJ and they are all about being stupid, and useless at the gov level.

congrats on the permit but more importantly correctly croping information off so it cant be used to find you IRL.
I see others doing it too (finally).

Just a reminder to keep your information safe cause its not that hard for them to find you, lol.

Again not a cop but access to such fun systems as they do. Not that I would do anything to invalidate my CJIS cert.

  11. LOL, would you people learn to crop out information?
I'm sure John Irwin of toms River NJ didnt want you doxxing them. (just a rough guess based off name /email partial matches)
If I wanted to I could find them.

    https://www.wikihow.com/Crop-Your-Images

I swear if for some idiotic reason the courts dont strike down or worse upholds the social media requirement crap alot of you are going to be crying about how you cant get a permit now.

Or lets use Yosemite Sam or Shortfuse for another example. Just a few searches and I've seen
where they post online, their phone number,  their name..and now with with that info since they are from bayville I can run an ocean county tax record hit or public records court search etc.  and have their address.
Point of all this is you need to be careful on what you post, lol.

With all that info I can now use NJ red flag laws if I wanted to and just show the posts and say im concerned and off all their guns go without due process

LOL again username checks out. There are others with a permit lower than yours that have been waiting longer and we arent posting every day.  With someone with such a short fuse like yours maybe its better if you wait longer. Gonna have to start calling you

I still am on the "the 2c states the permit good for any gun" idc what they type on the card. If it says no restrictions, and type a serial number, means nothing.

are you the same one that said "im going to flash my ptc, lube myself up and spread for any cop that stops me in the car?
Funny you will flash all your ptc to a cop but ignore a judges orders. Again let me know how that works out for you, lol.
I think NJGF will have its first trial case on what happens when you ignore court orders on your ptc.  I know some where wondering about that.

You can carry any gun you own, as long as you qual with it.  If my understanding of the situation is correct, the problem was not with the number of guns, but that the shooter didn't actually qual with most of them.

Here is a problem with that

    Quote

2C:58-4 Permits to carry handguns. 2C:58-4. a. Scope and duration of authority. Any person who holds a valid permit to carry a handgun issued pursuant to this section shall be authorized to carry a handgun in all parts of this State, except as prohibited by subsection e. of N.J.S.2C:39-5. One permit shall be sufficient for all handguns owned by the holder thereof, but the permit shall apply only to a handgun carried by the actual and legal holder of the permit.

So based off that I should be able to "qualify" with a .22 and then carry a .50AE if I wanted to. Thats how it was on NJ pre Bruen. Just like NJ was fine with their carry laws before. They change it because how do you think you have any rights they dont want you to have in this stupid state because morons keep voting in other morons.

Seriously? How is your criticism (or that of the OP) compliant with the 2nd Amendment? Not even the totally FUCKED UP and UNCONSTITUTIONAL NJ statute places any limit on the number of hand guns that may be used for carry, or requires that qualification of any kind be done with each, it stipulates only that the guns be owned by and familiar to the carrier. In my opinion, people who claim to support the 2nd, but speak up in favor of this kind of infringing BULLSHIT and waste no time in criticising others who choose to ignore or or otherwise attempt to bypass unconstitutional restrictions on their rights are as much enemies of the 2nd A and the rest of the Bill of RIghts as the idiot NJ Legislature, possibly more so, as most of those ass clowns don't make any serious pretense to support it. There is no question in my mind that statements of this kind are far more harmful to carry rights than some guy who believed the Constitution means what it says and listed 10 guns to save some time and money.

You're still missing the point ..why is the core concept too hard? i believe you should be carry and own whatever you want. If you have the money for it. Hell my carry gun would be a SMG . However this is NJ and they will look for anything to limit you they can. Look at the anti carry bill BS they are trying to push. Look at the damn shit we have to do just to beg to buy a gun. Mostly any other state does not ask what gun you are going to carry with. Its just this stupid state filled with mentally handicapped people as there is no other reason for all the blue votes.

Basically know your target crowd and with NJ being as anti gun as it is you would think you would not want stand out like a sore thumb and get swatted back in line and that's exactly what that person had happen to them.

I don’t see the problem with adding 10, or 50 guns to your carry permit. Who gives a shit?

If you are legal to carry and meet the requirements, you should be able to carry any damn thing you want.

That’s REALLY the point that should be addressed.

If we lived in America I would agree with you. Hell the statute even says the permit is good for any gun you own. But you have to remember where you are this is NJ and they will be damned giving you too much freedom. NJ is a boreline commie state and should be a sober reminder to those who think voting dem is ever a good idea.
I always tell people NJ is like living in North Korea but instead of a lard-ass like kim jong un we have a giant gopher as the would be king of this 3rd world shit-hole he is turning the state into.

Agreed, back in July you could shoot one gun and then list as many as you like on the form. The thinking was if you could show how to safely handle a firearm, all good. They never even check the targets, just collected them for the trash. Our instructor said we really didn’t even have to shoot the pistol to qualify but they did it anyway. It appears they have pulled back on how many you could list, may have to qualify with each now.

You can thank the jackass from Barnegat for that.
True shooters used to let you list other guns you werent shooting but as the saying goes it takes one idiot to ruin it
The moron from Barnegat thought he was gearing up for WW3 and listed 10 handguns he qualified with. Barnegat police department rejected the application due to the list of guns, they went crying back to shooters and as a result shooters decided to only allow 1 gun per qual.

Man, I thought I was bad with the low 400s but almost 600. Oh well you could have  gotten worse. I hear there are some poor fools in the 800s.
At the rate they are processing dont expect yours until very late or end of 2023 and those in the 800s wont get theirs until 2024.

That would be kind of funny in a way by the time those in the 800+ just get their permits some will be doing renewals.
It takes them what probably like 1 min if that per application. All the judge has to do is stamp it and move to the next. If his ink pad needs some new ink i'd supply it if it meant he was doing more than 30 a month.
