My First SHOT Show (The Takeaways and Realization it's work)
We have an astounding ability as humans to progress, apply yourself for one month and the results become noticeable, 6 months can be substantial, 12 months? Limitless. Subjectively speaking, January 2018 I was just another "gun guy" who bought guns and gear entertaining myself with endless amounts of 2A media, January 2019 I was attending SHOT show as an "industry insider" media creator. If you told me a year earlier this would happen I wouldn't believe you, but stranger things have happened.

With pure luck I connected with a media mogul of industry early 2018, I contributed content to his media platform, becoming a writer in the industry as result. Late summer 2018 I was asked about attending SHOT to be at the forefront of the industry for 2019. Candidly it never crossed my mind being new to the industry, but in the weeks following I'm still digesting my first experience and which direction to take my writing.

Good day everyone,

Was about time.  With many new sections added over the year and with more and more of the members here now living outside of New Jersey, needed to better organize our sections and content!

Made a few changes so that if you are browsing the main index, some sections have moved.

The first change is in the Gun Laws discussions.  There were a few sections and things were getting messy.  Furthermore, we did not have a specific area for national gun law discussion yet had plenty of them!

Added new "National Gun Law Discussion," consolidated the three NJ gun law sections together under current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion.  Legislative Alerts and Rallies remains.

Furthermore, consolidated the broader discussion sections together.

Generation Discussion, NJ Prepared, the !st Amendment Lounge and Made In America.  "Made in America" was moved to this section.

Next, reframed the  Shooting related sections together with outdoors stuff.

Moved the Firearms Hobby/Sport discussion section here, together with New Firearms Owners Corner, Events & Meetups, Ranges & Gun Shops, Training, Competitive Fun Shoots, together with Hunting & Fishing section and lastly blades.

Re-organized Firearms Discussion around specific types of firearms and accessories.

Lastly, I locked down the old Experience/Feedback section.  It was left up to search for old feedback as we already have two other ways of leaving feedback.  For users, use the Feedback app/tab in the menu bar.  For vendors, leave them a review on their gun listings page.

This has been posted on S&W's facebook page and I know not everyone is on facebook.   Not sure how else they are going to release this info so here it is just in case anyone owns one of these:

Smith & Wesson has identified two M&P15-22 firearms from recent production on which the breech face counter bore depth was not within manufacturing specification. In those firearms, the lack of depth may allow the bolt, upon closing, to crush the rim of the case, causing the round to fire, cycling the bolt, and potentially resulting in multiple discharges without depressing the trigger.

We are asking consumers of all M&P15-22 firearms manufactured before February 1, 2019 to inspect their firearms bolts for this condition.

To determine whether your firearm is affected by this condition, please inspect your firearm by following the inspection instructions provided at MP15-22SafetyAlert.com.

Hey guys and gals,

Just a quick update... there was a security update that needed to be applied to the site which forced me to upgrade a bit earlier than I planned.

Should be done and working right now.  Some features are still being upgraded and database being reindexed.  So for now may be a tad slower... update in a bit.

NJ has now switched to the Firearms Registration and Application System (FARS).

Instead of applying for your FID or Pistol Permits at your township PD, you'll go directly to the online system now.

Step 1: log on to https://www.njportal.com/njsp/fars
Step 2: Enter your Township's ORI Number (You will have to contact your local PD to obtain this information.  Some may list it on their township website)
Step 3: Complete the online application. You may complete the application using a smartphone, mobile device, laptop or desktop computer. When completing the application you will need the email addresses of two (2) reputable references. Your references can be family members.
Step 4: You must appear at your police department to pay for your initial Firearms Identification Card (FID Card) and/or Pistol Purchase Permits. Your application will not be processed until you have paid for the FID Card/Pistol Permits. Non-refundable payment is required to be made prior to the completion of the background as per NJSC 13:54.1.4.

* You will be receiving automated email updates throughout this new process.
* Once your application is complete, a station representative will contact you to retrieve your FID card and/or Pistol Purchase Permit documents.
* Please advise your references that the FARS system will email them the reference questions to be answered. Your references can complete the questions using a smartphone, mobile device, laptop or desktop computer. Please advise them to complete the questions immediately to progress your background application.
* The online application is applicant driven. Please ensure that you have entered the best phone numbers for yourself and references as well the best email addresses for you and your references.

Edit:  If you go through the NJSP - here's the list of ORI Numbers:  https://www.nj.gov/njsp/firearms/fars.shtml

Where the heck did the individual range groups go?

They were integrated into the new "Clubs" feature!

By user request, over the years we created small forum sections for individual gun clubs and 2A groups.  While it served the purpose, it was an administrative nightmare granting permissions while at the same time lacking organization and features.

Part of the software upgrades for the community was the ability to launch clubs, or groups around the community.

For our gun community I see it going three ways, 1. Social Groups (like NJ Zed), 2. 2A Rights Groups (NJ2AS, SAW, CNJFO), and 3. Gun Ranges/Clubs.

Already, converted the older groups to the new clubs and anyone who had access to the gun range section previously, currently has it for the club.  If you do not have access and want it, click the request to join.

Here is a video I put together showing you where to find it and how to use it.

If you would like a club added, either for a range or a new social group, let me know.  Better yet, if you hold a position in the gun club and want to help run it, even better!

I hope you enjoy it and it makes your NJ gun experience just a little bit better!

Lastly, don't forget to check out the Store & Range Directory! and subscribe to our YouTube channel to get the latest videos.

My Stag Arms AR is short stroking. I've owned it for 3 years and put about 2-3000 rounds through it.  Swapping in another BCG (also from a STAG AR) seems to have solved the issue.  Is the problem really solved, or is this just a band aid fix?

Does anybody love the Beretta or is it CZ all the way?  I sold my Beretta a while ago and replaced it with a CZ.  The grip just seemed better to me and it wasn't as large.  i always wanted to find a Beretta with the 1911 grip, though.

This gun is awesome:  https://www.wilsoncombat.com/92g-vertec-brigadier-tactical/!
