The one thing I forgot to mention is that Metal Form Magazines (Springfield Armory) aren't good at all, I replaced them with Wilson Combat and no issues at all. Smith came with two Wilson Combat Magazines.

I own both full size 1911 in 9mm, the S&W Pro and the SA and they are sweet. I have been able to shoot UMC 115 grains with no issues whatsoever. They are both tack drivers.
BTW, George Carell in PA built me a Caspian in 9mm and let me tell you is better than both Springfield and my S&W put together.

He doesn't have a shop, he works out of his house (The garage looks like a big machine shop), he lives in Bangor (Mount Bethel) PA
-
Hackettstown Guns & Ammo (908) 852-5260 and talk to Walt, he had quite a few 1911's.
-
Give George Carell a try, he is in PA, about 20 minutes from Hackettstown (610) 588-0199. He has built couple Bullseye and race guns for me, he is real good and his prices are reasonable.
-
If you value your gun and want to have it done right, give George Carell a call (610) 588-0199, he does wood repairs and is not expensive.
-
They have the all black PM9 for $678 (cash price), which with FFL transfer would bring the price to a shade more than $700. I would gladly buy from a shop if they could come close to that price including tax -- I wouldn't expect them to match or beat an internet price necessarily, but at least come close.
Give Hackettstown Guns and Ammo a call, they currently have two Kahrs in 9mm and 40 S&W (Bi-Tone). Their phone is (908) 852-5260, you have to talk to Walt (The owner) because Tony (that would be me) or John can't negotiate the prices, but the prices are about $650.00 plus NICS, and taxes. 3% additional on the gun before taxes if paying by CC.

If a paper trail is required for non-ffl and the catd will only cost me $25.00 for 5 years, what is there to complaint about it? Like everyone else said it, NJ laws aren't perfect but is a start.

Call George Carell in PA, he is right on exit 4 on 80 West. Here is info: 1115 Sunset Dr, Bangor, PA 18013 - (610) 588-0199, he'll do rust blue, hot blue, etc., etc. He has built couple guns for me and his prices are excellent.

We have a new guy processing the permits, once I gave him my latest application, the references had the PD letter in 2 days. Excellent service if you ask me.

Age to shoot handgun at range

My local range says "Mature enough to handle a handgun". Both of my daughters 9 and 12 always shoot with me.
