  1. Money's a bit tight, looks like I'll be holding off for a bit. Yeti, let us know how it goes.
  2. Receivers are milspec and I don't care much about the finish. Maybe I'll pick one up, don't mind the wait. Let y'all know if I do and how it is.
  3. Pretty new company, Northwest Custom Precision, just started about half a year ago. Stripped uppers for $65 and assembled for $80 shipped. Can't find much on them. Anyone here have or seen any of their products? http://nwprecision.org/cgi-bin/start.cgi/apps/products/products.html
  4. Appreciate all the answers guys, not looking to pick up a whole bcg since the 6.8 ones are more expensive. I've found it'd be cheaper to buy a stripped carrier then a 6.8 bolt. But the info on treatments has been real informative.
  5. Thanks for all the feedback y'all. Build is going smoothly, there's just so many options out there it's hard to see through the manufacturer hype, hence all my questions here.
  6. Nickel Boron, Melonite, NP3, Nitride... list makes my head spin. Who has experience with different BCG treatments, are they worth the extra cash over phosphate?
  7. Only worried about the two legged kind.
  8. Last x39 I picked up was 260 for 2,000 Golden Tiger. Runs well in the Arsenal, not sure how it'd do in an AR platform.
  9. Pretty much how I feel about the 300. The Peoples' Republic of NJ doesn't much like suppressors or sbr's so I don't see it being very useful.
  10. Tried to stay off the 68 to avoid the fanboys... i heard some good things about Speers tnt hp rounds.
  11. Any links to 6.8 tests through barriers? I had thought that it wasn't an issue, but if it is I'd reconsider.
  12. I just like the feeling of intimately knowing every part on my gun. After this I'll probably build lowers and buy uppers.
  13. I'm doing a complete build so either way I'm buying all the parts, 5.56 or otherwise.
  14. I've had no problems handling 7.62x39 recoil. Seems to me the biggest reason for .300blk is better stopping power than smg rounds and 5.56 plus running subsonics well. From what I've heard though, .300blk doesn't perform well at low velocity. What made you go with the blk?
  15. I've been working on building an ar for hd in 6.8 and was all ready to order in all the upper parts when I started considering a .300blk. Not looking to run suppressed or as a sbr unless I move and I reload. Any reason to go with the .300 over the 6.8?
  16. Is Rog Tactical a good place to buy parts from? They seem to be priced about $10 cheaper than a lot of other sites, at least for the parts I was looking at. $10 may not seem like much, but it adds up.
  17. But seriously though, thanks for all the help.
  18. While I'm practicing I'll snap a rubber band on my wrist every time I aim with one eye.
  19. Never thought of that being the problem. I always believed in improving the shooter before the gear so I'll give it a try.
  20. Nah, I keep on hearing I should, but eh, everyone's got bad habits.
  21. I figure with a quad rail I have pretty much unlimited options as to where I mount things. My only experience with AR's so far is competitive high power so all the accessorizes are new to me. Plus I guess I'm a pretty old school guy
  22. Seeing the fsb through my optic is distracting to me. Flip ups I can leave out of the way until I need them, probably never, granted.
  23. In the middle of doing an AR build (lower is done, starting upper soon) and I ran into the teeny problem of there being a gazillion gas blocks out there. Is one any better than the other? And are there any benefits to clamp on vs. set screw? Specs for the upper build are: 16" barrel, .750" under the block Mid length gas tube Mid length quad, probably YHM SLR I wanted to mount a flip sight on the gas block, but it can go on the rail for all I care. Oh and it will be direct gas.
  24. What is 5R? Five lands or something else?
