  1. If you fly out of NJ with a handgun to declare and check, be sure to have with you a printout of a public target range in your destination city, and the intention of going target shooting there when you arrive. Then you have your exemption documented and fleshed out right there. Coming back make sure you actually went to the range there and take a picture of it. Then you are covered on the way back.

Does this apply to hunting as well? As well, some states are much more flexible about guns and you can find places outdoors to shoot so you don't even need to go to an official range..like the Midwest.

  2. I have a gen 3 on my 6920 and I'm quite happy with it so far. Waiting to join CJRP to really put it through its paces. Eventually I will get an Aimpoint then this will be put on my wife's 10/22, she tried the Lucid and loved the RDS concept. Yeah I know sounds silly to put it on a little 22 but what the heck...

  3. Need opinions on 3 scopes

I'm going to be shooting up to 300 yards, mostly in NJ, so I expect (hope) that heat haze /shimmer etc won't be an issue. I am looking at the following spotting scopes, my desired budget is around $500:

    Alpen 20-60x80 ($470)

    Bushnell legend Ultra HD 20-60 x 80 ($480)

    Vortex Diamondback 20-60 x 80 ($499)

    I'll be shooting from .223 to 30-06.

I expect to be doing a range of shooting distances from 100 to 300 yards.

  4. Got to finally see CJRP and I am suitably impressed. I like the variety of shooting pits and options for shooting and based on how often I have been shooting at public ranges I will save a lot of money over the year as well as improve my shooting much faster (owing not only to how much more often I'll shoot but also the different kinds of shooting I can do compared to most ranges). Within a half hour of shootimg there I knew I would be applying to join. Great place and great people, many thanks to Tony and Bryan as well, made my wife feel very much at home!

  5. Dicks has told me they don't know what day any ammo comes in...so are you going there any time a delivery truck is scheduled in then on the off chance they will have some 22lr?

  6. Thank you everyone for the great suggestions.  I ended up calling around local shops (Dick's was sold out everywhere within reasonable distance), I ended up running to Heritage and got several bricks that ended up comparable to most of the better prices on gunbot after I factored in the shipping.

  7. My local FFL says it is not legal in NJ. I'm not sure why if the stock is pinned (stupid, stupid law). What else about it would be illegal?

I'm in the mood for another AR for no particular reason. The Colt comes highly recommended over what they deem others to be as "hobby rifles" like the S&W MP-15 Sport.

Frankly, while on that topic, unless the zombies crest the hill anytime soon, for me, it remains a hobby shooter. I won't be diving into desert combat anytime soon. What is so wrong with the Sport?

I just got my 6920 a few weeks ago, modified by Monmouth Arms and shot it last weekend. Definitely legal...you need to find another FFL...

  8. The background check is done by state police, you should have given a money order for $18 to cover it.

They never asked for it, this is what they have on the township website:

    Subsequent Application for Similar Permits:

    1. Within two (2) years of the initial application, applicant must submit to a Criminal History Name Check (SBI212A form).  A money order in the amount of $18.00 must be made out to the New Jersey Division of State Police (SBI).

    2. Over two (2) years, applicant must follow Initial Application Procedures.

    Applicants may apply Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  9. Im not inclined to take ANYTHING Nigerians say seriously..while youre there ask what the latest email scam is..

I read that the soldiers in Israel, who have a choice of grabbing either AKs or M16s invariably take the 16...I think I'd lend a lot more credence to some of the finest soldiers in the world versus e Nigerians...

  10. that applies to people driving through and is cited due to FOPA... it does NOT apply to NJ citizens...

transport of long guns and handguns is different in NJ in that IF you have a FID card you can have a long gun in the car at any time...

    .

I don't see any wording that differentiates between long guns and hand guns...can you show me the exact sentence that supports this?
