  1. Heys guys, just inhereted this pistol and it needs some work. I tore the pistol down to remove the broken firing pin and clean the 100+ years of gunk. Just curious on thoughts of complete restoration or repair and keep original? Thanks

The finish doesn't look half bad. I would repair and keep it original. I love those old Lemon Squeezers.

  2. Allright... everyone start explaining their handles. Freaking confusin try to get remember first names whilst figuring out who "Buttgate" or "GlockSex567" really is!

Axeman_g: My friends called me Axeman as a nickname growing up because it sort of goes with my last name Aiken and they theorized that one day I was going to hit someone in the head with an axe. It stuck so I use it. The _g is usually a security measure and is my first initial, Gerry.

Old Slabsides is what Combat Veterans from WWII affectionately called their 1911 Pistols. This was due to the obvious flat sides.

I really love 1911's. Sexiest Gun ever made.

  3. Just finished this two weeks ago. Bushy M4gery upper and lower, no muzzle device, DPMS lower parts, Rock River BCG, Magpul CTR stock (pinned), MIAD grip, Troy Battle sights, H2 Buffer, Badger Ord Tac Latch, Pulling my hair out trying to figure out which handguard/rail to buy. Eotec next. Shoots like a dream

OK, now I think I'm done. Added the DD Omega Rail, Eotech 512, Troy Battle Grip, KNS Anti-Rotation Pins. Oops, need to order the Vltor Offset Flashlight Mount for the new Surefire G2X Pro 200 Lumen.

  4. OK, wattle wood or walnut? I'll show pics of both. Ignore the style of the grips, I already know what style I want, just unsure of what wood to get. Vote in the poll! (its on top of this post)

Brown wood on a stainless gun always looks weird to me. I have this dilema with my Sig 239 SAS. Check out these for your CZ82 Dark Grey Ash Wood. They would be a nice contrast to the stainless.

  5. If I ever fire this stuff, its going to be in an emergency.

Therein lies the dilema. We need to train with what we use for defense. Forget about the +P issue for now. While a Glock will pretty much eat anything, You'd want to make sure it'll feed your defense ammo each and every time. That means at least a couple of hundred rounds. Expensive ? yes, but it's good insurance.

  6. I'm looking for some opinions on a NJ legal complete upper receiver. I'm looking for an A3 design flattop style, barrel chambered for 5.56, chrome lined, 1/7 twist. Mid-length gas system, M4 feed ramps would be preferred. I really don't know much about AR's, and want a completed upper that is already Jersey legal. I don't want to have to modify the barrel, or grind off any bayonet lugs. I plan on building my own lower. As little as I know about AR's in general, I know even less about BUIS's and the different variations (ie. flip-up, fixed) and how they work when you have optics mounted. I'd like to run a RDS on it, but of course some irons sights are always nice to have.

    Any recommendations?

PK Firearms has these two AWB Compliant uppers. I bought the M4 upper and love it. All Bushmaster with a RRA BCG.

  7. All great fight scenes guys, but The Greatest Fight Scene Of All Time takes place in the film Two Days in the Valley. Charlize Theron and Teri Hatcher go at it big time. C'mon, you remember the white spandex. There is some objectionable language so I did not post the video. Check it out on You Tube.

  8. ok since I don't see the answer, i will ask if I am right. If you buy a pistol from a private person, face to face, in NJ.

    you need:

    Certificate of eligibility (2 copies)

    Pistol permit

    matching FID/DL

each party gets a COE copy and a copy of the pistol permit. the buyers local PD gets the third copy of the pistol permit.

    am i correct?

    no nics on a FTF?

I am asking because i won a g17 gen4 on GB from a local person and he is unsure of the process and Pistols are not specifically mentioned anywhere on the nj sp site with respect to ftf transactions.

Pistol Purchase Permit, the seller should ask to see a matching driver license/FID, No COE needed for handgun, pink copy to buyer, send other copies to appropriate parties (noted on bottom of permit) I would ask to see the seller's permit and documentation as well.

  9. Best place to try is Chiarello.

Most of us NRA Instructors have insurance through them. It's their specialty. They insure Instructors, FFL's, etc. Liability insurance for a CCW is another story. I would look at shall-issue states and do a search of insurance co's that offer it. I know it is available. It seems like only FL, TX, CO, AZ, have companies that offer it. The next question is "will they insure a non-resident. I would venture to say that it's probably more expensive than my Instructor Liability Insurance. Anthony at GFH referred me to them.
