    Hi!

Thanks to all the welcomes! That's what I get for not taking the time to fully flesh out what I was thinking...sigh. Yes, I kinda was looking for legal advice, which I know better than to ask for on the 'net. I should have said I was thinking about getting legal advice, which I am. My thanks for the referral! I will check him out! What I was asking for people's opinion on my concerns. The idea that they are people opinions and NOT legal advice of any sort. (#include disclaimer.h) I totally failed to explain my experience with firearms. My step father was an avid duck hunter in the California delta between Sacramento and Pittsburgh, CA. After a hunter safety class, my brother and I were allowed to use the various shotguns he owned. Mostly for skeet shooting as we weren't really into duck hunting. Around the same time I also attended a summer camp that had a .22 caliber rifle range. When my two boys were late elementary school, they also had the summer camp experience. I have a healthy respect for any firearm and have "beat" that respect and the usual rules into the my kids. A firearm is loaded until proven otherwise. Don't point a weapon at anything you don't intend to shoot. I also understand they aren't magical, like some people seem to believe. Powerful, yes. Magical, no. Why now? Because I have always wanted to. Because I have people around me who are involved and willing to help me enjoy what they enjoy. Because I now have the money to put into it. Again, thanks for all the replies! JGT

    Hi!

I registered because I've been thinking about getting a firearms id and after reading the application have more questions and concerns. I'm a 50+ male that was diagnosed ADHD about 15 years ago. I've been on a low dose of anti-depressant and Ritalin for at least 10 years. Question 23 reads " Are you dependent upon the use of any narcotic or other controlled dangerous substance?" Ritalin is a controlled substance, class or category 2. Am I dependent on it? Strictly speaking, yes. Could I not use it and function? Yes. Answering this question truthfully looks to be an instant disqualification. I've been advised to answer "No" to that and other questions, that the questions aren't really looked at. I can see problems with that too, particularly with my medications. I'm open to any and all comments and suggestions on what I might do to ensure or better my chances for getting a FID. Thanks! JGT
