Hello, this is a great forum. I've posted a couple questions, and have gotten really good advice. Here is another question, does New Jersey treat black powder rifles as firearms or antiques, since there are no commercial cartridges available? You know, here in Illinois, black powder rifles are treated like any other rifles. I guess a follow up question is, are there many places to shoot black powder? Thanks, Kevin

Ha Ha! We are moving to the Florham Park area. My wife's company offered her a promotion. It's 2 years in the NJ office, then on to somewhere else. Guns or not, it was just too good to pass up. And yes, in regards to guns in Illinois, I am used to being treated like a second class citizen with something to hide. It also sounds like New Jersey, the law is open to interpretation, and different gun dealers have different "rules".

About to move to New Jersey, initial questions

Thanks for the info. About the FID, do they really want two references? As we are moving from out of state, I don't know anyone in NJ. It seems like a really strange requirement for the application. -
Hello, I'm moving to New Jersey this summer...I'm more than a bit confused about the gun laws in your state. Will I be all right brining guns into the state? I don't own any assault rifles, mostly single shot revolvers and a selection of rifles. Here is my question. My wife and I will only live in New Jersey for 2 years. Would I be allowed to use my guns in NJ if I keep my drivers license in Illinois, which would be legitimate as we are keeping our house here in Chicago. In other words, how do the laws treat out of state residents? Thanks, Kevin
