  1. Anyone own a Ruger LCR, either in .38spl or .357? How do you like it? I'm seriously considering one for my third handgun (1st revolver). I would be reloading my own ammo so not too concerned about recoil issues.

i like mine its a 357 works well and is accurate . ps just hold on and enjoy the ride

  2. The only thing i could suggest if you want to go with a lee press is to go with one of theese .Lee Pro 1000 Progressive Press the reason for this is if you are loading for hand gun . the single stage press will get old real fast . you will handle each piece of brass at least 4 times to load one round.

1 size case remove primer change out die

2 expand case mouth change out die

3 install new primer using the hand priming tool

4 add powder also change out die

5 place bullet on case mouth

    6 put case in press

7 now we have 1 round

I have been doing this for a while it is alot of work with a single stage press to be honest reloading is now becomming a chore instead of fun . I will be getting a peogressive loader soon...

    Hand Priming Tool Shellholders

you will also need to order theese i dont see that they come with the kit

  3. Did you pay more than MSRP? Even list price isn't bad, all things considered.

Some of the internet prices are really low, but when you consider FFL transfer fees I figured it would be best to buy from a NJ dealer. When you get into a gun that costs several hundred bucks, those FFL transfer fees are less of an issue but when a gun lists for $149 (.380 ACP) the FFL fee is a large percentage of that purchase.

No i belive it was 160.00 also they only have 3% tax. SS will order it for you just give them a call

  4. ok here is the law from the site

All firearms transported into the State of New Jersey:

    • Shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel, shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances.

    • The firearm should not be directly accessible from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. If the vehicle does not have a compartment separate from the passenger compartment, the firearm and ammunition must be in a locked container other than the vehicle's glove compartment or console.

  5. Thanks for all the input guys!

Still a mixed bag of reviews, but enough good reviews to warrant considering one.

I have three PP's to burn, and really only have two particular guns I want. I figured a Hi-Point could use up the extra one instead of having it go to waste. Thinking either the 9mm since I am getting a SR9 and it would be less ammo to stock up on - or the .45 ACP, just to have a .45.

Too bad these guys don't make a $130 .22 auto loading pistol - it'd be a no brainer!

Cheyenne is listed as an authorized dealer. I need to stop in and see one "in person" for sure.

they are a bit high i got mine from shoreshot

  6. I just recieved a call from the Monroe Township PD that my permit extentions have been approved by the Chief and I can pick them up anytime.Another thumbs up for Monroe's Police Department.

@cold shot. perhaps they have changed their policy since you last inquired.

Duppie i had to play the same game when i wanted my permits extended. no big deal just a minor set back. I was also told to get them in for the extension before they expire.

  7. Ask Bob, aka Reed338 on the forum, he has one, and I have a lot of friends around the country that have them and use them for travel and camping guns and not a complaint from any of them. They aren't high quality, but they are damn good guns, and not just for the price.

i took my 9mm hi point to the last steel match probably put 175 rounds through it no jams or failure to fire it just kept going. no they are not pretty nor high quality they just work. if you like stop by and you are more than welcome to try it out i also have the 45 if you like .

me i would like to move up in the power factor if carrying for bear a nice 4 to 6" 44 mag sounds about right .

  8. I have been going on my husbands site to check things out on upcoming matches and such and decided to create my own page! hope he doesn't think I'm intruding? Lol!!! No, he just wants me to learn how to reload and clean the guns so he doesn't feel like he's doing all the work! I guess that's fair, I can do that, if he wants to learn how to wash some dishes!!! Just kidding hun, :)

yea fat chance of that happening that is y we got a dish washer . Hi and welcome

  9. Now I'm dealing with a casual shooter, first time hunter. Now this guy is an excellent shot on paper. But, In a few months we have to get him familiar with the handgun, a couple of hundred rounds of practice then move him over to 50 rounds of practice with his hunting load.

So I think Reed, 325 grains may be over the top. Recoil must be stout!

yes those 325s take the 44 to a whole new level especally behind 21g of h110 .

  10.

I'm setting up two revolvers for this hunt,

For me an old Super Blackhawk 44mag 5 shot one empty chamber ...LOL

The second is a Super Redhawk 44mag. I'm just kind of argueing with the Redhawk guy that he should shoot 240gr HP's and doesn't need soft pts

Frank i have some 325 gr slugs if your friend really wants to have some fun.

    The AR was for back-up
