  1. It's always good to show up to court with family.  It gives a better impression.  Wackos tend to be loners.

No one knows what the future will bring.  NJ is a shall issue state for FID.  Technically, it's up to the prosecutor to prove you'll be unfit in the future.  Getting a new letter from a doctor doesn't make the old letter go away.  The prosecutor can still use it.  The judge isn't stupid. He/she knows no one can predict the future.

  2. That Glock 19 is probably the most rented rental gun there.  Rental guns get a few hundred rounds through them and then back into the case where they are rented again.  They get was more use and abuse without cleaning or preventive maintenance than a personally owned gun would ever get unless someone was really going out of their way to to shoot their gun until failure.

  3. Regarding bullet number 3, something I read a while ago leads me to think that the personal background check goes to the NJSP but the LE check goes to the FBI.  I have no idea if that's true and as long as you don't have federal or international charges against you, I'd assume that the NJSP background check will be the same as the FBI check.

I ran a background check on myself and the letter came to my house 2 days after I was fingerprinted.  So, whatever they do, they do it quickly.

  4. Mag safety: It is very simple. Look at the slide. If it says that the gun is capable of firing without the mag in, you do not have it.

If it does not say anything you have it. Unless it was modified (not likely as it was a new gun, unless it was modified and the slide was switched out- once again very unlikely), I don't see any other option.

This is the easiest way.  When I look a the picture on page 30 of the manual, the mag disconnect lever looks just like the sear deactivation lever when it's popped out to take down.

  5. They used to let you plead to unsafe driving pay a $100 fine and no points and be on your way.  Now, I think they've raised the fine for unsafe driving to like $450.

When you get to court, ask to speak with the prosecutor.  Ask him if he'll let you plead to unsafe driving.  Bring your checkbook.

  6. Its not a doctor's place to ask about guns for government records - it's really that simple.  Do they ask you if you keep Clorox in the house and how do you store it and then report that to the government?  Do they ask if you leave dirty laundry laying on the stairs where a kid could trip on them?  Do they ask if you check your tire pressure monthly and replace your windshield wipers?  Do they ask if you have a can of gasoline in your garage for your lawn mower?  You get the point, they are asking about guns not because they care but because big brother has given them a check box to fill out.

What government records?  They are asking about guns so they can help educate people to ensure guns are kept safely stored to prevent kids accidentally shooting.  If people kept their guns so that kids didn't shoot accidentally there would be no reason to ask the question and we wouldn't be discussing it.

  7. I don't know about that. Pretty sure there have been "Prohibited" persons at ranges using rental guns or sharing guns that "Non-Prohibited" people have brought to use. A "Prohibited" person is not eligible to purchase a firearm, but they may be allowed to retain firearms they already own. Who really knows until you are in a court of law................

There is a big sign at Ready Aim Fire in Bristol, PA stating that prohibited people may not rent or shoot at the range.

  8. I've never seen the law mention "household" or allude to cohabitants so I'd say she's legal to own and keep in marital home.

On the other hand, local NJ PD may deny and a judge may uphold the denial based the "best interests of society" clause due to the husband's cohabitation.

Or, are you asking if the husband would be in violation of an order to not possess firearms?  That is a tricky one.
