  1. ok so all i do is go to the police station and apply for my permits wich are $2 each. Do I have to pay for the mental health check? and after I get my permits how long do they last for?
  2. wow how did you know I actually am getting a beretta for my first pistol haha. I am waiting until the summer simply because I am in school until may. So let me get this clear, do I get a regular pistol permit card like my FID card and then apply for permits to buy..Correct?
  3. Just turned 21 last week and cant wait to get my pistol permit. I would just like to make sure I know the process. I got to go to the police station and fill out paperwork I know that. How much is the license going to cost me? Also do I need fingerprints again? ( I have my FID card) Anything else I need to do? I dont plan on getting a pistol till the summer so I wont get any permits for now Thanks
  4. It's an older one that I had laying around.. I agree though it does look dry. I'll upgrade sometime in the future but it's not really a big deal for the amount I shoot a year
  5. hmm maybe im alright then.... how does the grip feel. When ever I pick up my gun I picture gripping it with a verticle grip and being very comfortable. But i have heard many good things about the magpul one. I think i get it later on just bc its more expensive. Like I said I have to manage money better with my toys lol
  6. thanks.. The rail and the brake are my two favorite parts of this gun I think. The rail is pretty light and I think it looks better than just about any other one out there. And I paid under $120 for it. Now I just got to but a verticle grip or maybe the magpul grip for it. The money goes fast when buying stuff for my ar's haha
  7. Yea I was thinking of putting silver solder over it but I keep getting mixed reviews also. I was told many manufactures just have the pin in there so I figured it would be ok but haven't got a straight answer. And in ny you can have 2 evil features haha so I'm good to go
  8. Just finished this build last week. I been in upstate ny for the past month for an intership so I decided to finish the build here.. cant wait to bring it home and shoot it. I got the brake drilled with the pin in it I just have to get a welder to weld it. I want to get that done before I go back home in NJ so Its not illegal. Surplus ammo and arms lower, yankee hill diamond quad rail carbine length, YH phantom muzzle brake, colt carry handle, brownells gas block, detachable front sight, magpul trigger guard.. Am I allowed to have a verticle grip on here BTW? Let me know what you think
  9. I mean if gun companies send you guns with brakes just pinned and not welded on the top then I would like to think that silver solder on top would be alright just to make sure the pin dosent fall out
  10. does this mean that if I drill and put the pin in, I can put silver solder over the pin so it wont come out and that will be fine? or do I have to have it welded on the hole?
  11. so if I put the pin in the brake and barrel it dosent have to be welded on top? I though it had to otherwise it would be illegal in NJ
  12. hes really stupid considering they got boxes of 525 .22lr ammo in the safes haha
  13. When pinning and welding a brake does the hole have to be on the top where more visible or can it be on the bottom?
  14. also i heard yea and no for being able to silver solder over the pin. Anyone know if you can do that as well?
  15. I have concluded that with my next build for my rifle I will end up pin and welding my muzzle break on. But first I got a couple questions.. Is it legal for me to send a 16 inch threaded barrel to my house? because I want to drill it in my basement. Also I dont have a welding machine so I will not be able to weld it so I was going to go out and have someone do it for me bc it should only take a min... So I was thinking of taking it to a welding shop nearby and just have them weld the pin in there for me. But if it is illegal for me to have that barrel I dont want to risk getting in trouble for having it and having the guy call the cops on me or something. So just wondering what steps I should take in doing this. I live in freehold so if I am allowed to do this does anyone know a welder close by that I can go to? Thanks
  16. Just looking for the future. I been wanting to Mill my own receiver for a long time becuase I really enjoy building my own things when I can even if it costs more. Anyway is it legal in NJ to do this from your home? Im not selling them or anything, Just for my own use
  17. If I wanted to get a certain Ar-15 collapseable stock sent to my house and pin it myself could I get in trouble for it? I just thught about this thinking of my other thread where I didnt know if I could get a threaded barrel shipped to my house. i can pin the stock myself I was just wondering if I could get in trouble or not
  18. I may go that rout then. \... could I possibly get in trouble for having a barrel that is threaded shipped to my house?
  19. Is it legal to silver solder over a pinned muzzle break?
  20. Yea I would just like to do the whole think with silver solder only because I dont have acess to a drill press yet and I dont plan on just doing 1 barrel. I have a propane torch and I can but the silver solder and whatever else I need. Just wondering the process and if anyone has experience with this and can explain it to me
  21. I an looking to put this on my next AR-15 build.. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/124926/yankee-hill-machine-muzzle-brake-phantom-5m1-aggressive-1-2-28-thread-ar-15-parkerized ... it is a muzzle break so I can have it... Anyway I dont have a drill press so I can pin it so I was looking to silver solder it. Has anyone done this before? How did you do it and what did you use? I would really like to do this myself because I like the satisfaction of working on my own guns. I would like all the imput I can have. And this is legal right?
  22. vladtepes, that was a good thread that you had about the gun laws. I will save that for sure. it was nice to have some one clearly explain it
