  1. I looked for a local CZ person to do a custom build on an SP01 but didn't find anyone i liked. Nice thing is we no longer are bound by having to use a local gunsmith. I am having Cajun Gun works build my gun. It will take a while, but they work only on CZ's and they are supposed to be experts in the platform.

In the end i chose experience over location/ local. Just a thought.

  2. For me the "core four" are:

    • 1911 in .45
    • 357 mag revolver
    • 9/40 cal semi automatic
    • .22 pistol

    Considering you have the G22, I would go for a 1911 and a .22 or a revolver and a .22

For example you can get a S&W 686 and a buckmark  or a Springfield RO and a Ruger MK4 in your budget. All quality guns that you will enjoy for years.

Although SW500 and DE's are very cool guns, you will likely not shoot them much. Ammo is costly. if you don't reload it is not at all practical for volume shooting ($1.50 or more per round for 500s&w).

Looks like it will be a great place. I'm in somerset and am a member of SCFGPA. Honestly, I like the club, and will remain a member because it is so close but it needs to be updated. With other options like RTSP, which actually has working heat/AC, a pro shop and nice bays, I only go to SCFGPA a few times a year. TTC is expensive but it is a nice new club with a 40 yard range.

  4. Im glad they are finally getting their act together with pricing. I went there when they first opened with the intent to join, but when given their price sheet, i politely said no thanks and went to RTSP and gave them my money. The new pricing structure puts them in line with the other modern ranges in the area.  RTSP with rifle ad-on is 425, so 495 is only 70 a year more and you have access to a 40 yard range vs 25 yards. The prices are now getting to where i will look at them again once my RTSP membership is up, considering they are half the distance from my house.

On another note, Union Hill Gun Club looks like it will be open soon and is looking like it will be a great range. Shore Shot just remodeled, Garden State is being run by competent people (the old BA sucked), all good for us. Now if SCFGPA would start its upgrade project...

  5. FYI "Colt's Competition Series are licensed products of New Colt Holding Corp., and are manufactured under License by BOLD IDEAS TEXAS" as per the Colt Competition website.

  6. I think Dave (Shocker) shot my Beretta. I have an M9 with a slide mounted fastfire. I did not have the slide milled, but got a mount made by Burris that fit the Beretta's rear site mount. This is a good way to go if you are not sure about having your slide milled but want to try out the concept.

It's a fun gun, accurate and with the other custom work I had done, a great shooter. I built the gun for fun, not for high round counts. I will likely use it for steel with light loads, or take it out of the safe a few times a year for some range time so durability was not the main concern.

As far as manipulating the slide goes, yes it can be tricky.

  7. I have the Eclipse as well.

I have a C-More Railway on a T/S mount. It works great. The only issue is getting used to acquiring the dot on the C-More, but that is more of a training issue than anything else. It's a great set up for steel (primary use) and for plinking.
