Hello everyone, I am moving to Jersey City from Pennsylvania soon and going through my things I found some guns of my fathers that I had forgotten about. I don't use them but I'd like to keep them for him. I've read the forums and have ordered the book on the gun laws of NJ and I believe I understand what I need to do regarding transport and storage at my new home in Jersey City. I'm ignorant about a few of the guns that I have, so if you have the time please educate me I would appreciate it. This is just part of my research, I am not expecting anyone to provide me definitive and legally binding answers. Thanks.
1. Remington Field Master 572. This gun's chamber holds more than 15 short rounds, so I believe that means it's a no go.
2. Steven's 16 gauge double barrel shotgun 2 3/4 chamber. I believe this is legal, but everyone seems cautious about shotguns.
3. Remington model 700. This is a bolt action 7mm mag with a scope on it.
4. 38 special revolver
5. Raven arms mp 25. 6 capacity mag.
I own no ammo for these guns and will transport them locked in the back of my car to my new home and will keep them locked there. I also will not register them or get an FID card unless I choose at some point to buy ammo for range shooting. At that point I'll join a gun club so that I can be properly educated on the state laws regarding those activities.
