  1. So basically, what you are saying, is you are happy that instead of well-paid Americans being able to profit from the work and prosper reasonably, instead illegal immigrants were exploited for pennies on the dollar.

This is WHY they have unions......

No, I'M not happy about illegals taking work away from U.S. citizens, but your union compatriots obviously don't give a rat's behind:

Just google "Unions organizing illegal or undocumented aliens" and tons of stuff pops up.

Don't put words in my mouth. I never stated an opinion one way or another. I just stated facts that were given to me by family and friends who were in LA after Katrina.

  3. In some sence, some of the formentioned "Huns" are like the Socialist/Libs we fight...Here, it seems we need to put our proposed scenarious throught the scenario comittee for approval..."And how dare you post a Scenario that doesn't meet with our approval!" - What a joke!

Seriously, guy, are you typing with your toes or what? You misspelled "Jersey", for heaven's sake.

At least you didn't use "Hons" for Huns.

  4. From shawnmoore81: "Realized he can't rebuild the shore with out the unions?"

Don't delude yourself. I've got a brother-in-law whose family homes and businesses were devastated by Katrina in Louisiana. He spent many a week down there helping out by doing welding, cutting, etc. According to him and several other acquaintances I have who spent time down there post-hurricane, the lion's share of the work to rebuild was certainly NOT done by union labor.

There was a huge influx of manual and skilled laborers that came in from California and Mexico, mostly illegals. Add to that a ton of non-union, sole proprietor tradesmen like my own plumber here in Bayonne, who went down there to help for a bit, and wound up staying months, making a huge amount of money via some government contracts.

While I'm sure unionized labor did their part down there, it was the folks either hungry for work or eager to help that got things back on track there. What makes you think the same--at least to some degree--won't happen, or isn't happening in New Jersey? That's an honest question because I know being the heavily pro-union state we live in that there are probably resolutions being passed that demand only union labor be used to rebuild in certain cities/counties. That, and it almost sounds like a prophecy on your part that NJ can't be rebuilt without unions.

No bashing, bro, just a dialogue.

  5. Like I said yesterday, I've got a wagon (Rogue) that can fit four adults just fine. I'm willing to drive down to Cheesequake and pick up the bus to Trenton from there. If it sounds like a plan, hit me back. Figure on leaving Bayonne a good hour before whatever time the bus is leaving from the rest area on the Parkway.

  6. Iggy is hashing out the details, i'm sure specifics will be available very soon.

Doesn't make sense to haul butt out to Bridgewater when the Cheesequake rest area is only about 30 minutes away from us in Bayonne and going against traffic compared to 78 or 287. I vote we meet there, and I'll even let Tango Charlie drive if he wants, LOL.

  7. I thought to throw in the food service bit just to clear things up. I guess it wasn't necessary. :)

Anyway, yes, I do work for Iron Mountain.

    Had a feeling.

I shared a vault under 5 WTC with their forerunner, Arcus Data Security, back in 2000-2001.

Good to have you along for the ride on the 8th of February.

  8. No, I'm not an IT guy. I work for an archive/shredding company and my route is in the business section of Manhattan. I should have clarified what KIND of truck I drive. lol I'm NOT in the food service business.

Who said anything about the food service business?

You don't work for Iron Mountain, do ya?

  9.

guess that's me, I'm kinda big.

Also, I believe Socom is coming too. maybe 2 cars?

Maybe we can kick in together and rent one of those passenger vans from the guy on 43rd Street and Broadway? It would be nice to keep the Wild-eyed Bayonne Boys in one place.

  10.

yet under his Watch Jersey City had (at least at one time) The SHORTEST turnaround times for permits

If he turns out to be a pro-gun guy I'll take back any "fat" jokes I've ever made about him. But parts of his city are still war zones so I don't think his idea of policing is working so good.

Disclaimer: my cousin is a captain in the JCPD, so a lot of the negative things about Comey I've picked up from talking with him.

Except for Comey's weight issue. That's all on him.
