  1. Try this one.

    ETA

I assume youre using an AR?  Also is there a reason you're going for a 100 yd zero?

Thanks  I just printed this.  Actually I would like to be at further than 100 yards.

I would like to be for the furthest distance I can shoot which is 200 yards.

With the target you listed above what does a 50/200 zero mean?  It has the same

Point of impact at 50 and 200 yards?

  2. I'm just trying to understand what the advantage of a spotting scope is compared to

a set of binoculars.  I like to minimize the amount of stuff I carry with me so a set of

binoculars makes more sense.  Is there a significant disadvantage to using a small/medium

set of binoculars compared to a spotting scope?

I shoot at Ft. Dix and furthest distance is 200 meters.  Would like to try that distance

    eventually.

  3. Hey guys, just getting some advice and knowledge on zeroing a red dot site.

Here is my issue.  I don't have a spotting scope and don't really have the

coin to buy a good one.  I have a small little monocular that can see to 25

yards alright so that is furthest I can be for zeroing.

I am using a 25 yard zeroing target I found online.  But I don't really understand

the instructions and they seem to be for irons specifically.

At first I was WAAAAAY off, not even hitting a huge 2' x 3' target at 25yards.

    Eventually I got to here:

These were the last 10 shots of the day before the final cease fire (Ft. Dix).  I was told that I should

be about 1.8" below the bullseye for a 100 yard zero.

Should I be at that line where it says "300 Meters" on the target to be zeroed for 300 yards?

And is adjusting to different lines below the bullseye good enough to know you are good for

that particular distance?  In other words how well does this 25 yard zeroing really translate to

the actual distance you are zeroing for?

OK, I'm rambling now, I'll let you guys talk.  Thanks.

  4. The Bulge buster is a separate, final operation.

The round actually gets pushed all the way through the factory crimp body into a red plastic holding area.

The shell holder (on a single stage press) is replaced by the "pusher stud"

(Not sure how you'd configure your Lee Progressive to use it.  Give Lee a call tomorrow. They've been very helpful the couple of times I've called them)

    Thanks man, good idea.

  5. Bulge buster hides the issues with ammo. You shouldn't need one in a 45 due to it being a low pressure round.

If the ammo is within spec then it's the chamber of the gun that's off. Might want to have the chamber opened up a little.

His seems to chamber Wolf Steel rounds just fine and that is what I am comparing against because

I know it worked in his gun.

My rounds also worked flawlessly in a Springfield XD45, M&P45, Dan Wesson Patriot 1911, AR15 with

    45ACP upper.

  6. I have this issue where my 45ACP rounds would go in freely into my Kimber 1911 barrel

up until the last 1/8" or so.  At that point a bit of force was needed to get it to fully chamber.

And you had to really pull it out to remove it.

I realized that because I was using flatpoints the shoulders were a little broader compared

to a round nose and my bullet length was a little too long.  I shorted the OAL and this made

the round go freely into MY 1911 barrel.  They shoot absolutely fine and have used them in matches.

But I tried it on my friends Remington R1 and it absolutely will not chamber all the way

(barrel removed dropping in by hand).  It is a very tight fit.

I measured the outer diameters and it seemed to be in line with a spec 45ACP and a factory

    ACP I measured against.

Is this due to my crimp?  Resize?  Flare?  OAL is good now and cannot go any shorter.

    Please help!

  7. Technically i had everything i needed to shoot. I had locked everything in the back of my pick up, which has a locking tonneau cover. Went back into my house to grab my car keys and like an idiot put my tonneau cover keys on the counter. dove to range 14, paid for time, backed into my spot and then realized what an idiot i was. Now my cover keys are on the same ring as my truck keys, where they should have been in the first place.

Oh man that sucks!  Range 14 is trip too.

  8. I don't think anyone will top mine.  I forgot my guns!  Yes.  No lie.
I was in such a rush to meet my friend I just grabbed my range

bag that had ammo, targets, all my eyes and ear gear, mags....

    But NO GUNS!

Thankfully he had his so we were still able to shoot. Even

the guys at the next booth over let us shoot their AR15 and their

    Beretta PX4!  Pretty awesome!

What's the worst thing you left at home when you went to the range?

  9. I love the clean brass and the only part I hate about steel media is punching out all the primers prior to cleaning.

That I simply do not have the time and will for.  I am kind of a pick up and go type of reloader.  My brass comes

out maybe 80% as clean as what is seen in these pictures with standard dry media and some brass polish.  Good

    enough for me.

If I had the space and perhaps more time I do agree steel media is the way to go.

As for the selling of the drum contraption there are a lot of people who build products in their home that mimic other

products on a commercial level.  I don't see the issue with it personally.

Hmm.... on an alternate note though... maybe you could sell some of that shiny gold brass!!!

  10. Great looking!  Did you change the safety?  Or is that stock?

Man the grips and magwell made all the difference.

It's still classy with a touch of "tacticool" to it.  Congrats.

  11. I use 115 Montana gold jhp out of a 1911. I forget the charge that I was using but I can check Sunday night. I'm out of town right now. It felt nice and light but had what I thought were a bunch of bad primers. Turns out that the piece of the primer cup that blew out got stuck in the firing pin hole.

    I've been using 3

231 for years in 9 and 45 May not be the best for everything but it works and works well8ybepy2u.jpg

Nice.  I feel I'm ready to take on new powders.  I wasn't comfortable at first.  Wanted to really get antiquated with

reloading first before messing around with different powders, loads, etc.

    And now I want a 9mm 1911.  Haha.
