  1. I have a 686 Pro and a Model 60 Pro if you would like to try them out.

I considered the 686 Pro as well, that trigger felt Amazing. Didn't

fire the gun, just handled it at Shoreshot. I'd never turn down an

offer to shoot any gun so if you're ever there or perhaps shooting

a local match let me know. :)

My only concern with the 686 or 60 is less rounds. I probably average

around at least 8 rounds to hit all five plates in steel... on a good day.

To me it's a lot of pressure if you miss once knowing you can't miss again.

Good thing is I can use it for IDPA/USPSA without issues.

  2. One of these days I want to get a revolver. The 627 Pro Series looks to be the best candidate so far.

I like to use all my guns some competitive form. Eight shots seems sufficient for me for steel. I

don't think I'd fair too well with much less. I think 6 is the limit for USPSA, but I don't think I'd

    shoot revolver division anyways.

I shot a 686 and that was a lot of fun. What can you tell me about the 627?

Note: Pics are always nice if ya got'em :)

  3. Nice try ATF agent... :keeporder:

It would be nice if I was ATF, then I could carry. :icon_mrgreen:

I'm not asking if anyone here does it. Just asking as a

    general question.

I have had people tell me they carry though and they have no permit.

The whole rather get judged by 12 than carried by 6 theory... But

to my knowledge if you use a gun even in a justifiable, self defense,

situation, but you legally cannot carry you're still in a world of

    legal hurt.

  4. I can't speak about the Kimber, but my GSG1911 runs very well on Federal Bulk, with a failure of some sort once every 10-20 mags. Never a failure with mini-mags though.

Yeah I can't see why there is such a stark difference between Blazer and Fed Bulk as they are about

    the same quality.

  5. One day I was in a gun shop and looking at some small pistols. The guys behind

the counter were saying how certain ones were good for carry. I replied: Isn't

it illegal to carry in NJ? They said with a bit of a laughter don't worry we

won't tell, kinda implying it's something people do. I also have heard of some

people carrying concealed despite not having a permit.

Is this more common than I think? I personally see it as way too much of a risk.

  6. Good to know. I have not seen this issue with my gen4 g17. I hope they get it fixed. They may even throw in a mag for your troubles.

I have seen a report that the ejector for the Gen 4 were at a slightly off angle

if that makes any sense. But the problem is easily fixed.

  7. What kind of loads are you shooting out of the gun?

Please tell me you are not loading Berrys to full FMJ loads and keeping them at lead loads?

Berrys can have the jacket plating ripped off pretty quick.

I'm use Accurate #2 and I am using the start load off their load data sheet

for 124gr hollow points, around 4gr I believe. It's a pretty light load,

not sure if that is good or bad.

For the Lead they are 115gr wadcutters. I think I'm at 3.7gr for those.

    Also a very light load.

I'm a fairly new reloader/shooter so if ya see something wrong don't be

afraid to tell me. My feelings won't be hurt... much. :)

  8. Dip the end of the barrel in mercury. Don't breathe it in!

That is, if you can get your hands on some mercury, of course :D

You guys are some mad scientists! How would I explain to my

wife why all the thermometers are broken in the house?

  9. Hey guys, I have a Kimber TLE RL II and the 22lr conversion upper for it.

I found it likes CCI Minimag a lot and it does OK with CCI Blazer as well.

Remington Golden bulk and Federal Bulk however jam up with just about every

    single magazine.

Just seeing if any of you guys have the same kit and what ammo you had success

with. I'd be interested in hearing what other 1911 22lr owners are shooting

    as well.

P.S. Kinda a side question, but the dedicated Kimber 22 1911 has the exact

same upper right? I handled one the other day and did not see any difference.

  10. Do you shoot lead reloads or are you using fmj?

I would try to clean it with a brass brush, if not I would get the recrown done. I would also get a different barrel for it anyway. That barrel is part of the triple serial #'d guns and I wouldn't personally shoot the life out of that barrel. I would get a replacement barrel to go to the range with.

These guns aren't around that much, so I would try to keep it as nice as possible.

Thanks guys. Bryan I only shot lead out of it last night, around 150 rounds, but these marks were here long

before that shooting session. Prior to that I was using Berry's 124gr hollow points which are plated.

I will try to give it a scrubbing with my cleaning brush, maybe it will come off and I just didn't try hard

    enough.

Didn't think about just buying a new barrel, not a bad call.

  11. Hey guys, take a look at the crown of my Sig 228 Barrel. I'm not sure why it's so rough like this.

You can feel these marks with your finger. Kinda like someone took a file to it or something. The

gun was bought used, but in excellent condition. To be honest at the time I did not check for this

wear so not sure if it came like this or not. I put around 500 rounds through it, previous round

    count was around 200.

First I'd like to know what causes this.

Secondly I'd like to know if it's worth re-crowning. I think it's $80 for Sig to do it which is a lot.

    Thanks for your guys help.

  12. Welcome to the forum Lawrence. I am glad you joined.

Zoid is a felllow Sigaholic and has a very sweet/ clean non railed German p228. That kinda of German goodness you just don't see anymore.

Yeah, don't talk to Bry@n. Will make you want all the Sigs ever made. LOL!

  13. Yarn, haha. There is yarn far more expensive than the stuff they sell at Michaels. I've seen Anastasia bring home some expensive yarn. Apparently they go up to $100 a skane (roll (our measuring unit equivalent would be a box of ammo)).

Any hobby that you are committed too, will be a burden on your wallet.

    Welcome to the forum.

Damn, my dreams of saving for my retirement RUINED!

I don't own a boat or race car, but I do have a motorcycle. Also not a cheap interest.

    Waterguns?

  14. This was the first handgun I ever purchased. It's also the first handgun I sold.

Awesome pistol. Super reliable, very accurate, high quality, and good looking.

I sold it cause I needed the cash. Wish I could have kept it around, but you know

how it goes. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy the review. Any other HK owners I'd love

to hear your thoughts on this pistol or others and how they compare/contrast.

  15. I'm pretty new to guns/shooting, but I'm certifiably addicted that is for sure.

I'm been lurking this forum for some time now actually. Mainly to find out what

local competitions are going on in the area. Before I got my FID (which was

about a year ago)I got all the details on how to do it here on this Forum.

I'm a member at ShoreShot down in Lakewood. I've done a few matches here and

there (Steel at Central, USPSA/IPSC at Old Bridge). Sometimes I do the Monday

    night shoot at Shoreshot.

If you're wondering bout the screen name I'm normally knifezoid on other forums

as I am into knives as well and that somehow lead to guns. I need cheaper hobbies.

Maybe knitting or something. Yarn is cheap right?
