  1. My son is currently active duty USAF stationed in Florida.  He will be getting out in August.  He has acquired a handgun and several long guns while in FL. He will be starting college in a few months, possibly in MA.  Is there a way I can legally possess the firearms while he is in college?  Does he have to sell them to me, in which case it would be a dealer-to-dealer transfer?

    Thanks.

  2. Mine is secured but it is just a temporary deterrent. There is an electrical outlet to hook up a reciprocating saw, and noise to mask the sound of the saw. Drive up in a contractors F250 or E350 van and not many people would pay much attention

  3. I didn't read all this because I am still reading and typing on a phone screen that is too small for my 52 yr old eyes. On the plus side i first got interested in guns last year with Irene and occupy Wall St going on. I am really glad I have them (plural). My wife is too. People were trying to steal generators in Succasunna which is not far from me. There were also looters at the Walmart in Mt Olive. I am also glad that I have a good chain saw because a tree blocked my driveway. I did good having a generator, lots of water, and adequate food. I did not anticipate the gas situation so I have to re-think that. I also have to get my generator connected to my electric panel with a transfer switch

The biggest challenge I think is the mental one. Some people I know are just totally defeated by this situation whereas I see it as a challenge to be overcome and resolved. I can see friends and family members getting very depressed and cranky as we go on 7 days without power. Adversity happens in life and with God's grace I make it through.

  4. I'm sure Im not the only one who did this on her but, I live in Morris County and drove about 25-30 min right over the PA border to and there are gas stations of RT 80 at exit 308/306/305 and either you wont have to wait or it will be minimal, I waited like 10 minutes last night, If you are in the same situation It is well worth the drive to not have to wait 3-4 hrs. Rt10 Randolph area and rt206 flanders area gas stations have ENORMOUS lines,so do yourself a favor and make the trip over the border if your within 30-40 min of PA

Same here. I've been to Stroudsburg twice this week. I'd rather drive 70 minutes than wait in line 2 hours.

  5. I've made two trips to Stroudsburg PA this week to get gas and it has worked well. It is a little more than an hour round trip from where I live near exit 27 of 80. The line was longer today but I did not wait more than 10 minutes.

  6. I am relatively new to firearms. I have been shooting less than a year. Also, due to some personal events, I have not been to the range in a few months. (This is just a long-winded way of saying that I am not a great shooter.) The other day, I took my Walther PPQ 9mm to RTSP to practice. I was shooting at small 18"x12" targets at 5, 7, and 10 yards. It looks to me like I was more accurate at 7 yards than at 5, and maybe even more accurate at 10 than at 5. I did not shoot the same number of rounds at each target, and the targets are slightly different, so it is not an easy comparison.

I have noticed this before. It is a problem with the gun, or is it something I am doing wrong?

  7. Another tragedy of a disturbed person killing others, but with a knife. It just proves that it's the person, not the weapon, that is the problem.

BEIJING—A teenager killed eight people with a knife and wounded five more in northeast China after falling out with his girlfriend, state media said Thursday.

The teen killed two of her family members and six more people before fleeing, the state-run Legal Daily newspaper said. It reported he was caught but did not describe the circumstances.

The official Xinhua News Agency said the attack took place Wednesday night in Liaoning province. Media said the 17-year-old suspect is from Fushun city and his surname is Li. The attack happened in Yongling town.

Police in Xinbin County, which oversees the town, declined to comment.

Violent crimes are growing more common in China. There was a string of knife attacks against schoolchildren across the country in early 2010 that killed nearly 20 and wounded more than 50.

  8. A friend of a friend is opening a gun shop. The location looks good for hitting it on the way to Shongum. Here is the link: http://red-dot-firearms.com/ . I have not stopped by yet but may next weekend.

PS: Yes Maks. I already told him to be an NJgunforums.com sponsor.

That looks to be very close to the Stanhope House. It's also very close to my house, and not far from RTSP. It is good to have some competition. We need more gun stores, so it seems like a normal thing in NJ.

  9. Ray, how current are those pictures?

EXIF data in picture says it was taken 7/7/12 with an HTC phone. Since GPS was turned on, you can even get the coordinates of this secret location from it, but I am not going to reveal that.

  10. Before this turns into another NRA is calling or mailing me "war", let's find-out what the OP does for a living and see if we can be of any help. That's the REAL problem here guys........

Thanks. I work in accounting/finance for a large corporation. The job market for guys in their 50's is not pretty these days.

  11. I joined the NRA last November, so that means I have a good four months until I have to renew.

Yesterday, I was laid off from my job. I was home last night and the phone rang. I answered. The lady starts to go into her pitch about how important this election is and our 2nd amendment rights blah, blah, blah. I very nicely stopped her and said, "ma'am, you're probably asking for money, but it's not a good day because I just lost my job." She said, "Oh mercy, but actually I'm not asking for money. I am asking you to renew your membership ... blah, blah, blah" She started right back up with her pitch. I told her again that it's not a good day, and I hung up on her.

  12. With the increased fox population in recent years, and now coyotes, I am seeing fewer chipmunks. That is the good news. The bad news is that I am also seeing fewer wild turkeys. I used to see them all the time, but I can't remember seeing them in the last couple of years.

Now I have leave the cats out for the night :icon_e_wink:
