  1. This stuff has been out there for years. not sure why this company got DOJ approval to begin with. As plenty others have said there are books an digital media on things well worse. I blame DD for making a big deal out of releasing them. They should have just put them out there. WOuldn't garnered the attention, unless that was their point, which is possible. In either case, clear violation of 1A. Building it is a separate issue. This country is really going to hell in a hand basket folks.

Technically if you are selling a handgun, and the buyer comes to your home and does the paperwork, his possession of the purchased handgun from your house back to his house is covered under the "exemption" of taking it from point of purchase back to his home.

However, I've wondered about the situation where the seller brings a handgun to the buyer's house to do paperwork.  What exemption covers THAT trip?  What if the seller gets pulled over and searched on the way to the buyer's house?

The same for taking a handgun to a dealer to sell.  If the dealer is also a gunsmith, then you are covered since you can bring a gun to and from a gunsmith.  But if the dealer isn't a gunsmith, what covers that trip?

That's the problem with banning something outright and then coming up with a list of exemptions.  It ought to be the other way - the default ought to be legality.

Rifles and shotguns don't pose the same difficulties, because with a FPID card you can possess them unloaded most places.

Agreed. If I'm selling I just wanted to make sure buyer coming to me is cool. I wouldn't risk going to him unless we met at a range.

FTF is no issue. just verify all docs and dates.seller has to mail PP to state and local PD.

Anywhere is okay. I have met sellers in their home, in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot and many other places mutually agreed upon by both buyer and seller.  I certainly would never meet on any school property. A range is also a great place to meet.

Thank you very much. This is very helpful!

The state takes WAY LONGER to return them.  Plus as mentioned, the law says you can only file with NJSP if you live in an area with no municipal police.  I live in such area.  Last week I got a P2P back from NJSP after applying in November of 2017.  Took 117 days before I got it back, (but it came with the extension already filled out).  State law says they have no more than 30 days to return it.

From talking to the state police (local and in Trenton) I found out the reason the State takes way longer than nearly all municipalities.  Local Police Chiefs have the authority to approve your P2P once the background check is done.  NJSP Barracks Commanders do not have that authority.  So all applications for P2P are sent to Trenton to be checked and signed off by a single office in the NJSP Firearms Division.  The backlog is enormous because they have so many more to process than any 1 municipal police department has to process.

I know this sounds like the devil talking but hear me out...

i actually think this is better. Not the time, but the fact the permits go to the same person. It adds way more consistency. There is no sense in bitching that we have to do this because it most likely won’t go away anytime soon. So if we have to deal with it, it would be nice if the process and approval guidelines were consistent. Even for politically biased. At least that bias would be somewhat predictable.

You mean the training tips during your session?

Afterwards, if you review the data, touching the section of pie gives more info.

Yes, those explain the issue more but don't necessarily give you much detail on how to actually fix. I'm just doing research for additional info on top what it says when that happens

Joined as well ... Only took it out for a spin once so far .. and it seems pretty accurate ... shows me just how sloppy my trigger finger still is lol

But i love the fact that I'll be able to keep track of my progress

Cool! Agreed. I wish the suggested fixes were a bit more descriptive

Anyone have the MantisX training system? I just heard about it and after watching a few videos, I picked one up on Amazon.  It provides feedback during dry or live fire.  If others have it, Maybe we could create a group and compete against each other.

Just had mine arrive today. Pretty cool. however no more Pelican case. Mine is in a custom MantisX case. Username is twospot if anyone wants to add me to their group

For PA residents, PA does not recognize a non resident NH CCW. Resident only. As a PRNJ resident it's good in PA! Just apply for your PA resident permit when you get there and you won't miss a beat!

Oh no doubt, as soon as I get the PA drivers license I'll get the PA CCW. Then I'm gonna go buy multiple handguns and a rifle IN ONE PURCHASE!!! LOL.

of course this is all irrelevant if you don't get yourself pulled over.

    That is very true sir.

You are understandably paranoid and that's the way the PRNJ wants you to be! You don't have to prove ANYTHING that happened during the time you were OUT OF THEIR JURISDICTION! What are they gonna do, check to see if your gun is dirty? You cleaned it at the range! Do a paraffin test on your hands? Oh crap, you washed them before you left the range then went to a bar and had a few drinks, had dinner, stayed at a Motel 6. and drove home the next day.

The above is exaggeration but it does not matter if you went to the range or not.......Your intention was to go to the range, then, when across the bridge, you changed your mind and went shopping instead! You CAN change your mind, no law against that is there?

Do what you want and live your life, or choose to live in fear of the Gestapo! Even they can't touch you if just follow the transport laws while IN this state!

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I'm sitting here cracking up almost urinating myself because I just realized what your avatar is LMAO!

So what if they are not open yet. Your purpose for the trip is to go to that range from your house! Once you cross that bridge with your permit, NJ laws no longer apply! Perhaps you enjoy sitting in your car at Clayton's for a few hours before they open just to relax! The NJ police have NO control over what you do once you cross that bridge. When you return to NJ, just go straight home first and secure your firearm. As long as you follow NJ statutes for transporting, you are good to go! Don't overthink this thing! Once you cross into PA, YOU ARE A FREE MAN! Enjoy your right to carry while you still can!:)

Oh I know once I cross the bridge I'm a free man. However leaving and re-entering this shithole is a whole different ball game. It's difficult not to overthink with the crap here. I am 100% a cop will say "Well do you have proof you went to the range?"

Although the law does not say you need it, it doesn't say you don't. Remember that's how these libs think. Plus no offense against any LEOs here, I don't trust they know the laws.

Who goes to PA and doesn't go to a range or gun shop? Every trip of mine into PA involves a range. You are fully covered under FOPA.

You broke the code! There are lots of public ranges in PA! Just find one reasonably near the bridge you are crossing. I print out directions or instructions from the ranges website.

I work in PA and have Clayton's about two miles from my office. They're not open when I drive into the area in the morning.

If you can't leave the state with what? I use my NH non res permit to carry in PA quite often.

I'm seeing more stuff that FOPA doesn't cover me locking my  firearm unloaded in the trunk and driving into PA from my home in NJ. I was told by what I consider an incredibly reliable source that FOPA does. However I found threads on this forum and others saying unless you're driving to your own business, another home or a range that its illegal

There is nothing unethical about following the law as written. The law is the law, and you are either following it, or breaking it. The term loophole is just used by the anti gun crowd to portray us as sneaky law breakers who need to be stopped. But what are we doing wrong? Reading and understanding the laws that govern our interest in firearms, then (gasp!!!) staying within those laws. We should all be jailed immediately for being responsible citizens!

Oh I don’t disagree with taking advantage of a loophole in any area of life. If the opening is there so be it. My point is 1. There is no gun show loophole 2. Certainly there are loopholes in plenty of things that may not seem “right” to others.it wasn’t specific to this topic.

Couldn't agree more! Deaths by shootings have trended downward for decades... and fall well below the other more common causes of death in the U.S. That's why the other phrase I despise is "gun violence epidemic" - first of all, "gun violence" implies that violence by gun is some highly unique crime (as though a career criminal wouldn't just as happily stab you death - violence is violence and its root cause is the violent offender)... and worse yet, by using the word "epidemic", it implies that the trend is moving sharply upward (the opposite, in fact, of where the multi-decade trend line has been).

Look at the trend lines for deaths by opioids... calling that "the opioid epidemic" is actually quite accurate. Those cases are, in fact, skyrocketing.

Words matter! Facts matter! The thing that makes me the most frustrated is that the organized 2A movement has not done a better job of messaging. Nearly ALL of the facts, trends and credible studies are in their favor - but they do a really poor job of getting that info out there, IMO.

I also think they’re preaching to the choir. Even elected officials do the same thing. Why are we not educating the anti base. Probably because it will be a hard frustrating task. But the fact is, laying it all out to us is useless. We need to open some anti eyes. Facts are wishy washy too. For everything I bring up, an anti can bring up their facts debunking mine. This just comes down to philosophy really, unless someone really wants to be open minded. These days that’s in short supply.

  15. So I am going to read the whole thread but I’m impatient so I apologize if it’s been said this way.

A “loophole” is not illegal. People find tax loopholes all the time. It’s legal. Maybe unethical, but there is a hole in the law that can be taken advantage of.

There is no gun show loophole. I’m starting to feel like I need to dump liberal friends because I’m struggling with the lack of sense. If you don’t like guns, that’s fine. However don’t make sh*t up. Accept reality.
