  1. I thought this machine would be tied to my toe and dragging me to the bottom of a lake when I go to meet my maker but life throws some awesome curveballs sometimes and I have decided to move this on.

has...well had......xs sights on it. front sight is dovetailed into a bit of a riser on the barrel. it fell off. picked up a trijicon front sight for it. i know how to put it in.....sorta. but....how do i put it in and ensure that it won't fall off again? is there a way to stake these when installed? or possibly locktite?

Red loctite will serve you well.

So, I cast about 500 rounds of 45ACP LSWC from a H&G #68 Mold on Sat AM.

Now I would typically put these through a Star Lube Sizer - and when I shoot them - it would be smoky and messy due to the lube shoot off and the pistol would be more dirty than normal (i.e.: Ball)

This time, I powder coated them - toaster oven 350 15 min - they came out very nice.

All I can say, is after putting about 150 rounds through the pistol, I noticed no ill affects using the power coated bullets, no noticeable accuracy degradation etc. - however, the shots - clean, no 'lube smoke' - minor fouling - literally bore snake and crystal clean bore, other fouling chamber and other areas - minor.  If this was shot with standard old school cast and lubed, the gun would have been a mess and needing an immediate detail cleaning....

Essentially, I may never go back to standard lube and will look to shoot PC Heads.....

    YMMV

I'm a fan.  I shoot from a local company.  Great product and reasonable pricing.

    They work great.

  4. Good for you.  And welcome aboard.

I started out wanting just one pistol.  I'm now in the middle of redoing my garage so I can continue playing with firearms on my lathe and milling machine.  So yeah, it goes that way.

Btw.  There is no way to get a squib load at 5 grs even if you’re .1 gr off.  Sorry buddy.  Bad advice.  You could have 1 gr and it would def clear the barrel. Fyi

Gee, thanks for clearing that up.  I hope you feel really good about yourself.

    So smart.

    GFY.

That is a really neat method, I'll have to try it when I start reloading for my bolt action. Is there a way to translate that method to a semi auto action?   The video above it about die size was pretty interesting too.

    Yeah man.
Pop the bolt out of the BCG.  Pull the extractor/ejector.  Git'er done.  Easier with the barrel pulled as well but I'm sure it can be done in the receiver as well, with some cussing.

  7. I've been down this rabbit hole along with a couple of my friends, despite my warnings.

Unless you're shooting competitively or are very knowledgeable about reloading I would warn you away from things like the Ogive Comparator.  It introduces a variable that is just not that important to guys that are simply shooting paper, casually, at 300 yards.  There are plenty of ways to find out if your ammo is gonna fit with the most important being; it chambers.

It's kind of like getting a borescope.  You want to find a good deal on a perfectly fine used barrel?  Find a guy that just bought a borescope.   It's information overload.

I had all the tools and have since sold them off as they were taking the enjoyment of simply reloading ammo that shoots well and works away from me.  I have a press, a Chargemaster, and the necessary components.  Nothing more as it's just not necessary to what I do.  If I was to get back in to competitive shooting, I'd probably try to get the FX auto trickler.  That's about as far as I'd go.

Good luck with whatever you decide to work up.
